How do I link things in chat?

I’ve seen countless of people say it’s shift and then click on the item, but that doesn’t work for me… How do I link items in chat?

Have you got the chatbox open before you shift+left click?

Check that your chat tab is on interactive.
Right Click the chat tab and choose Make Interactive. Then Shift+Left Click should link in chat.
