Split the big task (2 heritage armor sets) into smaller tasks (daily or weekly level goals). It will be much easier to monitor progress and you’ll know when you have the time to enjoy your alts (once your daily / weekly goal is met).
Do you have a friend or guildmate you could play with? It’s easier to stick with a goal if you’re doing it with someone else, and definitely more fun too. “Today we’re getting X levels on these characters!” is easier and less draining than “Let’s see how far I can get today.”
you are doing that for a reason, you get board fast playing
what i do is level up that character up to 10 levels a day at least, after that i go back playing normally with my other alts, keep doing that everyday and you will unlock heritage armor without feeling pressured
Don’t
I’m not kidding!
And don’t treat them like alts! Treat them like different mains
With several and different ‘mains’ (sigh… okay, call them alts if you like), different races, playstlyes, faction, lore, etc, everything… all of them will help you too stay in WoW basically forever
With the help of them, you will not burn out, the (some would say, unavoidable) ennui will not kicks in
It’s very easy to grind grind grind and forget why do you do it?
To have fun
To relax
To play
For me to have X alts/main is similar a bit to be like and actor (wich I’m not - tho’ since from AD and a Roleplayer cou could argue, every RPers is an actor) , or watch/play every time a differ play in a theater
Cats is an awesome play, but if you could watch Cats all the time, every day… eventually you would stop to go theater
See once or trice in a row? Or for a week, then watch another one, another, a nother… untill the circle is complete and you are back to shed tears again hearing Elaine Paige as Grizabella singing Memory
Okay, this was a bit chaotic, but I think you can understand what I wanted to say:
Apriciate your alts! They are your anchors to stay in WoD!
With us!
In seriousness I have no idea. I mean I’ve bought out of serious endgame in BFA now, I’m just raising Alts and farming gold before SL and if I have time leftover I’ll maybe mess about with some gearing on my scrubby chars.
I find trying a new spec works well. I’m raising my last mechagnome now, affliction lock, which I’ve never played before despite having a horde lock at 120. Since rolling her I haven’t jumped on another char. Granted she’s only been played for about 5 hours maybe but already at 53. Wanna see if I can get her to max in less than a day played.
Giving your char an identity/small backstory can help because then they’re more than just pixels.
I dunno it’s hard, I’m an altoholic. If I count all my deleted chars I must have about 11 120 horde and 14 or so alliance. 6 of those are geared well at time of patch 8.3 landing but the whole cloak quest thing, after doing that 6 times I got massive burnout and decided to stop chasing ilevel this patch until I have nothing else to do.
Might get back into the mythic scene when I done with my lock though by actually bothering to gear Pax here up or pushing further on my hunter who is already kinda geared. I freaking hate DPS mythic queues though and woupdnt mind having an alliance and horde monk geared up properly (my current geared monk is a vulp).
I have the same problem. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s simply boredom. So if I want to concentrate solely on one character, when I feel that urge to switch I’ll log off and play some cards or something then come back refreshed.
I’ve just got back to wow after 1-2 years break, I have 5 chars at 120 and few more 100-ish, I even have 2 warriors at 120 on different realms and I don’t remember how that happened but the point is…I don’t have a main…and that’s a real issue…so far I switch between pala, dh, warrior, hunter and mage, I am thinking to level a druid and maybe a lock…? it’s bad man…not good
Maybe you need to find a reason why you switch, i started to switch characters, i main mage and i found out I like mage to raid and dungeon! But i like druid more to quest and open world. Also dps only classes makes wow complicated for me who pugs a lot, to put in perspective my tank catch up pretty quickly my mage using only pugs, which makes me believe that there is only one aspect of the mage that i actually like which is bad because its my favourite aspect of the game. Sometimes a deeper understanding why you do it can help.
What I do is set specific goals for myself, and keep to them until I meet them. When I was leveling multiple characters my first goal was to get a character to 60, and if I feel I had enough of that character I swapped to another and started it over. Depending on how you respond to short term goals you can set longer goals for yourself (get a character to 90 first before you swap to another.)
alternatively you can level your character to 100, and after that swap to another character and only log on to your other alt when there is a legion assault going on. Each assault is a good 3 levels so it will not take long from there to get to 110 for the heritage armor.
