How do i upgrade pets from common to rare?

I’ve read that it takes 1000+ battles or so to drop one of those stones to upgrade it…is there a faster way?

Buy Flawless Stones from the pet-vendor in Dalaran or Boralus. They require Polished Pet Charms (currency reward from pet battle WQs)

The stones are also sometimes rewards from Pet Battle WQs in Bfa/Legion zones.
