This thread is already fairly old but since our friendly dwarf bumped it, I will just comment that the quickest way to level in TBC seems to be dungeons (assuming you find groups easily). Outside of that, just do quests quests and more quests. Should be around 6-7hours per level for an average joe.
oof, sorry to necropost, i did a search for relevant topic didnt think to check date on it
I guess my 12 days is less than average Joe so if your are a geared 60 and are DPS you should easily beat that even without taking time off work. especialy if dungeon grinding.
Did my first 70 purely in dungeons, and 2nd 70 only doing quests. They averaged out to be around the same /played, early levels much faster than questing, but later levels was faster doing quests.
But this will depends entierly on group setup, some dungeons can be pretty bad if you are lacking especially interrupts. And gear level of the group.
And some classes are much faster at questing than others, i quested with a shadowpriest, so very little downtime.
On average gaining a level from 60-70 is between 5-6 hours
Organized being the key word. If you have a group of geared, focused and skilled players you’ll blow through the levels like they’re nothing. If you’re doing random dungeons with random people questing will be much faster.
It takes me a day; some 10 hours of play to get a lvl on pretty much all classes.
Thats with a mix of questing and dgs.
Now since i had all classes at top lvl in vanilla, at 64 i decided to get the mage to 7 first bc of alchemy procs. Gradually i can use more rest xp on the others. So basically it is rest xp all the time now. Fastest ive got is 2 lvls in a day (some 10 hours of play).
I also optimize by questing the same chains/zones, so i know them by heart.
You do not get to 70 in 2 days. And you do not get to 66 or 67 in 7 hours. NO way.
Ive done cleave groups and for the ones that actually know how to do it, its not that much faster.
You get 2 (2!!!) bars of xp if you dont have rest xp for SP for instance. Still takes half an hour, even with ‘cleave’ and skipping end bosses and so.
Now you might be faster if you have a dedicated 5 man group that spends an entire day optimizing for xp. But if you want to go in 1 go, you will have no rest xp in some 3 lvls, even if you started with full rest xp. There is NO way you get to 70 in 2 days by any normal means, even with ‘cleave’ groups.
(I did 46 lvls so far, since start of tbc and i play friggin every day, all day)
