How exactly does the queue sysyem for lfr and dungeons work?
I’ve been waiting for an LFR for 4 hours now, in which time I’ve been 1 healer or 1 tank away from a full compliment on several occasions, only to look again a minute later and have none.
It feels like im basically sitting in some kind of pool, where other groups are handed the required players needed.
I’ve experienced the same thing for the last few days tbh.
I remember i spent 30 minutes when i queue De other side normal, but came for dailies covenant for ardenweald, but they don’t like it though
Could be coincidence but once I know what the average queue time is, if it goes much over that time, I simply cancel and re-queue…often seems to help (although the more anti-social hours of the day, are a law unto themselves).
I did try the cancel re-enter a new queue already and just got the same results.
It feels more like playing some dead mmo that lacks the players, rather than wow.
Are you still doing Sanctum of Domination or earlier and non-heroic dungeons?
As an Xpac progresses, a lot of the players will be focussing on current patch content, which will lengthen the queue times on older content in the Xpac.
In my experience, the LFR system doesn’t work as intended when you just sit around counting how many players leave or join the queue you’re in.
When you’re busy playing the game whilst in an LFR queue, 30 minutes feels like 10, this is how it was intended to work.
I suggest asking a person from England, I hear they’re experts at queueing.
I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head Cathbadh. I only just came back after a break and wanted to clear those ones, before moving on to the newer content.
That said there are still ppl queueing for them, as the slots fill often before emptying out again.
You are not wrong.
In that case what may be adding to the confusion is that certain Dungeons and Raid wings will be more popular than others in older content, because you can do them quickly, particularly spamming dungeons.
This means slower dungeons and wings may take a very long time to queue for…I think some of the groups that seem to appear and disappear are ‘premades’, with only a few slots open.
I am from England lol, that explains why I’ve been sitting in the same queue for 4 hrs 53 mins
If a tank is in queue and a tank from an already running group leaves, the tank will instead go to that group. Hence he will be removed from your widget that shows “you have 1 tank”.
If it’s that bad I would move on…you may be able to complete some of the missing Dungeons and Raid bosses over the Easter weekend, when more people might be leveling Alts etc.
You press a button, magic stuff happens and you get into a group.
But seriously though they could work to improve the code, like cases where I queue DPS/Tank and it insists on queuing me as DPS even though no tanks are available.
LFR rewards are outddated. Some fights like Sylvanus (last boss sanctum of domination) are overtuned (or were, before current gear boost) and it took hours to do for only measly 10% chance for 220 loot.
Blizzard refuses to buff ilvl/rewards for old LFRs, yet keeps legendary powers (a core expansion feature) in there (Castle Narthia LFR).
I have posted before about this:
All LFRs should drop at least M0 gear to increase their lifeline to at least the current expansion.
For me it’s more about, just experiencing the content. Not being a member of a large guild, or having a large grp of friends to run with, the LFR tool is something that allows me to still follow the main flow of the game.
-
You enter queue.
-
You get declined.
-
You enter queue again.
-
After 3 to 5 fruitless attempts you’ll finally find:
-
a cosy little group that doesn’t care much about timed runs / one shots / full clears but might manage to achieve them nonetheless.
-
a cosy little group that doesn’t care much about mechanics, won’t make it past the first quarter of the dungeon / raid but instead makes your day with the cuteness of cluelessness.
-
a not so cosy little toxic try-hard group that will wildly accuse random group members (preferably the weakest in the group) for tanks dying to their own stupid “special route” and big pulls, heals failing to keep the group alive in regular critical phases or dds being damage horny but won’t move an inch in case of aoe.
- You finish your pve adventure and either had a good time or decide that logging out is the best option since some idiots once again managed to kill your mood.
The end.
The way it works:
- group with a tank or a healer; or
- you’re ….ed.
The required healer or tank has joined, but they brought a dps friend. Someone (you) got dropped from that forming group to make room.
Though if you’re waiting 4 hours in LFR, for goodness sake spec healer. Get a green shield and 1h off the AH if you have to, nobody will notice or care.
We don’t give out secrets like that easily.
