How do you feel about the pacing of Anniversary realms?

This is not rat race. This is race set up by Blizzard. Rat race is when rules are set by the racers themselves. And, yes, I need to clear content before it progresses into the next phase. Not necessarily clear, but experience (but in Classic everything so easy that it’ll be cleared anyway).

I agree, that’s a good alternative, but it’s not for me. At least I need to experience a content once. Then I can move to Era may be.

Some characters did get lost with the closing of some Classic realms during TBC and Wotlk. If you were offline for a long time during the entire process they’d appear gone. They weren’t lost forever ofc, but they would not appear on any of the remaining realms when your realm got deleted until you contacted support and they looked into it manually. Maybe that’s what happened to him.

It’s too fast and the levelling is too slow for normal players Vs those that are chronically online.

It’s my opinion that they should make the levelling speed of levelling in classic with the XP buff the baseline xp rate so that normal people can enjoy the game, as it stands now min/maxers have been level 60 since week 2

They didn’t delete them. They moved over to TBC lol

You really don’t get Classic do you? I don’t think you belong here.

Me too. And i think, that they will even give the option to stop for TBC era like selling character copies which then stay in TBC and the original can continue to Wrath.

At least that would be my wish. :four_leaf_clover:

Whit out killing my self and destroy every frendship i like it slow.
Allways want 2 characters to playe so that takes time and i also want to rank them upp in pvp.
My smitepriest is on his 2 last weeks of ranking and i got my paladin att lvl 25. So long road to still go.

This actually DID happen, not deliberately, as in Blizz presed the delete button, but during the great consolidation mess, some characters were lost entirely, some lost levels, items or skills. I lost a level 13, no great loss. But sure it happened.

Imho SoD was great for slower levelers with the fix level steps plus the exp boosts.
Personally I have never (apart from vanilla) enjoyed leveling so much like in SoD.

Especially this step-by-step feature was lovely because one could max the professions, earn gold and do much other stuff before everything went on to the next phase of leveling further.

That system did not please the powerlevelers though.

For me it was perfect. And I miss my felguard in fresh.

Era that way. :leftwards_arrow_with_hook:

Noone did ever say that “fresh” will be vanilla-style.

The number of people that don’t get Classic never cease to amaze me. Why is it that people always say things like:

And so very few that understand that it is a game that can be played in many ways. Like:

Yeah, true enough. Sometimes I forget myself and accidently allocate my last remaining lepton of faith in humanity into something that’s inevitably going to lead to nothing but futility and disappointment.

Season 1 of SoD was really fun for me, but since I played alone and didn’t find a guild, I dropped it at the start of Season 2.

Agree, I would love to have felguard now, one of the reasons why I am considering to level a Warlock for TBC and get that book from BWL

Oh spare me the superiority complex, I played this game 20 years ago and I’ve played it today, they’re completely different games.

Your logic being:
Anniversary Realms have dual spec therefore super fast speed levelling should be forced upon all players?

So wait, did you start in original launch and your highest level toon is level 30-40? You leveled slower than half a level a day.

You should go era then. At your current leveling rate you will be 60 just before naxx comes out. Your leveling rate is inline with a 3 year vanilla time table. 8 months between launch and BWL launch. You are looking for something slower than actual vanilla launch 20 years back. The game is not what it was back in 2004 or even on nost. The player base is not what it was either. Everything has been researched and is run as meta. This includes leveling. I have quest leveled at least a dozen toons, not boosting or spam dungeons, actual leveling by quests and grinding. I have no interest in repeating a lot of it again. My brain competes withed RestedXp for quest pathing. There is no whimsy or adventure for myself, and many others in world. If ashes of creation ever launches or blizzard makes WoW reboot mmo or starcraft mmo I am sure I will enjoy playing dungeons and dragons rp level again.
You are living over a decade in the past man.

Correct, a lot slower than half a level a day, if you math it out. For starters, I don’t play every day, and when I do, a couple of hours maximum, usually from after work until it gets dark in-game, taking a dinner break. I have a month I barely played because we were moving. I will always keep coming back to the game, but I am not interested in the rat race for a long while now. Lots of the time playing with my wife leading the way, who has never seen this game, I guess it’s quite easy to see why it’s taking long. I spent an entire day walking to Darkshore from Mulgore to tame Shadowclaw at lv13, or another day letting wife try get to Badlands from Grom’Gol at lv38. Era is not for me, because there isn’t really an option to “transfer when I want”, and eventually I’d like to at least play BC and LK; I guess I could wait for Anniversary 2 and pay for a transfer of 20 characters, but paying for subs is expensive enough as it is.
What I’m trying to say is, I don’t expect life to stop just for me. But for those who feel like leveling is a chore, it is still a chore and do the rested xp / boost route, that doesn’t seem fun for me. For the ones like me who can still find the adventure in the game as it is, either because a new angle, or the nostalgy factor, progression itself becomes a binary switch of yay lv60, oh it’s naxx already, as you’ve mentioned. While I still have fun, it’s not ideal either. If I played more and get there faster, I’d get burned out because I did this a thousand times already, simply this is how I like it. For others, they can’t really make it happen because of kids, or whatever else.
I made this thread mainly because I was wondering just how many people are on which side of the fence.
