Title. Played 1-2 weeks ago and farmed like 10 losses in a row at 1,8 cr vs 2,1 cr mglads/awc (lontar e.g.), what is your experience?
Personally it’s the usual cringe, trying to learn RPS against r1 players. Sure feels good to get a win but often times cheeks are so clapped that there is no opportunity to even learn.
So point of the thread would be, what are your experiences, and has it gotten any better lately (early season mmr is often broken)? I’m allergic to dead seasons namely.
and from time to time you get some Moonkin/WW or Moonkin/DH
in terms of players specifically, there’s already a lot of “not amazing” players on 2.1-2.2, mostly just playing Assa or Mage comps
if you somehow survive 200k+ Affli or Fire mage DPS + garrotes, you can push those ratings
If you can’t, wait for some inflation
2.3+ there’s mostly R1 players though

but apparently since there’s no Assa in AWC it’s not strong, even though it outdamages every other melee during a game including Ret,DH and WW, silences your whole team while the other guy is killing your whole team from 40 yards away
Do you speak about last week or this week, they nerfed the Garrote dmg from assa, and it feels like they do a bit less compared to last week, still decent, but not as broken as last week
Faced sometimes R1 players, Glads, and only “duelist” People, it´s a bit mixed, some guys havent qued much, and stuck still in Placement games, or playing with friends, new comp, or doing with someone just cap and wait until they have full gear, or more inflation is ingame
it´s just the normal 1-4 Week experience, it´s getting better later into the season, but u see more lower players at 2k 2.1 than last week currently
Pretty interesting due to easy access to raid items but at the same time it made PvP balance issues even more visible.
Sets dictate if you are strong or not and manipulate spikes of your power. Good example - Ret has a weak set so it got buffed last season to made it more even and the result was it pumped some absurd amount of damage when people had no set pieces and now once everyone has 4 set it fell behind. Ele is an extreme to the other side. 4 set gives 30% more damage output.
PvE items can give you huge advantage in PvP. Still not even close to BFA but you could buy a weapon for Bullions then upgrade it playing M+ and then you saved 900-1800 conquest points. Some weapons even have better stat distribution. Raid Daggers for Assassination/Sub have versatility/mastery while conquest daggers are versa/crit.
Some raid items make certain specs stronger. While I don’t mind fist weapons and rings on Enha because it’s one of these weaker specs then buffing Havoc/Ele/Prevoker when they are already doing good is questionable.
Overall and interesting season and maybe actually we should leave it as it is. Why? Because for most specs it’s season 3 repeated. I’d get really bored of it if I didn’t play M+. It’s a nice side activity and a thing that makes me not burned out or fatigued of PvP. I wouldn’t mind if we could buy raid items like this in the future. Raiding mythic for 1-2 pieces of gear is too much for me but doing few M+ fairly low is ok for these who want to put some extra effort.
My point is that a lot of people are carried by the comps they play and cannot break certain ratings when facing people who don’t lose to what they’re doing.
E.g a Feral Mage team should be in 2.4 if they were both good with their super OP comp, but they’re stuck 2.1 because they faced people who are good at kicking and denying their Cyclones and killing them
And with a less overpowered comp that 2.1 team would likely be 1.9 or so. A lot of players around 2.1 and 2.2 are like this currently, and are stuck there for said reason.
Similarly, a 2.1 Assa Fire Mage comp is stuck there because the Mage prefers to spam brainless damage rather than sheep DPS so his Rogue doesn’t die.
It feels weird. Bouncing between 1,9-2,1 mmr on multiple chars atm having a good time playing ( if no warlock or boomy is in the match).
But half of the time when the gates open you have people on last season glads mounts run at you and make it sweaty as hell and the other half is chill games that allow you to try out stuff.
Maybe its just people playing lots of twinks, since I thought we had a giga inflated season with no mmr reset.
Yes that’s the biggest problem… Multi-main alting. I hope IN war within for pvp will make war banner like you can play 4 pvp rated champions. OR make it MMR base for speck. Solutions are there, they must do something about that. Rating must feel ‘Rating’
