How do you get to the World Boss?

I tried flying from Theron Watch approaching the World Boss from the North. Is there some wind barrier? I started going backwards…
So I tried flying from Cobalt Assembly approaching from the West. I hit a mountain and ended up with loads of elementals so I couldn’t stick around so hearthed.

Should I approach from some other direction? Do I need to be good at Dragonriding and use updrafts and soaring swoops and all that stuff?
I couldn’t get to the World Boss in Ardenweald last expansion, now I can’t see to get to this one.

maybe everyone has, I could spend half an hour flying there only be alone and unable to solo it…
