Do you have a set rotation when you play which alt? Like do them in order they are listed or how you feel like or how far behind they are your other chars?
Do you have some set goals you want to accomplish every week? (like for example: complete world boss + do weekly quest or get alts to item level 3xx or level up profession/do profession weeklys)
I am asking because with 2 only 2 alts I am quite struggeling to fit them into my gaming schedule. I heard there are people that have like 7+ alts.

I usually only bother maintaining one character.
Alts i usually keep for extra transmog drop chances.
Banking, or crafting.
Though i usually also maintain a tank besides, but it is much easier to gear up as a tank, so the things i have to do there is limited to catch up.
I prioritize what i want and need to do with an alt. And prepare it for that and nothing more.

Mine is level 60 and sends work orders once a week
I alternate between my Hunter and Rogue based on my mood. If I want to gank people or do BG objectives, I play Rogue. If I want to go yolo I play my MM Hunter.
Not really concerned about Renown or progress, just fool around for fun.
Will tell you how I manage my alts when they start making the concentrated garbage for professions account wide
Here is what I do since long time ago. Of course, I stopped playing a bit after Legion launch and came back at SL.
I have my hunter as main now (used to be warrior long time ago) which is to experience most PvE end game contents in a degree -
- Normal Raid once in a while with guild runs. Maybe heroic later but not too bothered.
- WQs, Renown, Rep. I only collect things I want. Mostly just mount, maybe some toys
- Weekly M+. Normally at least one dungeon. Some times more if I feel like to push a bit.
I normally will have an alt for each class during an expansion. Some of them will get to max level quicker if I feel the spec is really good or just very fluid rotation to play and have fun to experience the spec.
I only level alts with rested XP to go through dungeons or really simple WQs. When they are at max level. Some of them either are used to gather mats or to farm things (mostly mount). I donât bother much about any form of things for alts. I sometimes do some very easy WQs/dungeons to get gear for them. When an alt can do LFR or M0, I will pick the ones I like most at that moment to go through some gearing process to experience the spec/class a bit more in very low end M+ < 5. Just chill runs. Nothing serious.

so far i managed to bring 5 characters to level 70
the idea was to level up professions and such
however that idea failed
professions on alts in this expansion is a no-go
at the moment i play just 2 characters the most, this mage and a rogue
rogue being more or less âmy mainâ
i also have a warrior at 70, barely play it at all
a druid at 70 who was supposed to be my alchemist, i just dispatch him for old content achievement stuff
and a hunter that does Razsageth LFR once a week for the bow as well as some transmog hunting here and there
My main is a feral druid (414 ilvl), and I raid and push keys. She has herbalism and alchemy (which I regret because Iâm lazy at gathering - mostly buy mats from the AH - and wish Iâd gone double crafting).
I have a DH (375-ish ilvl) who has skinning and leatherworking (can provide herself and the druid with gear), who I thought I would play in DF, but it turns out Iâm not enjoying the new havoc very much, and I prefer to tank on myâŚ
Paladin (400 ilvl), has mining and blacksmithing. I mostly do mythic plus on her, with a bit of raiding to try to get raid trinkets.
Hunter (390) is a double gatherer, does an occasional mythic plus and sometimes goes to guild social raids.
My other 2 level 70s are a rogue and warlock, both pretty much newly dinged. I plan to get all the other classes from 60 to 70 (have one of each) over the next few months.
I focus on my druid main and my paladin (main alt). They both get a full raid vault each week, the druid gets a full M+ vault, and the paladin gets one to 3 slots depending on how I feel. I keep on top of their weekly crafting quests, as well as the DHâs because she supplies herself, my main and the hunter with gear. Other characters get played as and when I feel like it.

Seems reasonable to have a main and maybe one secondary that covers a very different gameplay experience.
I main a druid, in part because of the versatility, but the one spec I cannot warm up to is Balance, but I have an arcane mage as a secondary. Itâs just a very fun caster.
I have tons of alts from times past. Those only serve as means to ends now, like farming certain stuff. (I am glad I geared up mainly hunter alts.)
Well, I hesitate to call it âmanagingâ my alts when I canât seem to find enough time to do any raiding (lfr lol), nor any dungeons, old raids etc.
I have four 70âs, three warriors and a mage. Level 69 paladin, level 68 hunter and 67 dracthyr. I chose these chars, because by levelling them I have access to all professions. To be honest once Iâm done with all the professions-related stuff Iâm tired and have to log out.
I do all world quests on my main Dunsparrow, warrior 378 ilevel, and the feasts. Then I do the weekly rep quest on all my chars.
Together thatâs about 15+ hours. However, I do enjoy playing all my characters. Professions are a bit of a mess and I screwed up a few of them, but week by week itâs getting better and more fun.

You just play alts if you bored - you dont stressed out.
Blizzard dont seems to understand what is called alt friendly since last few expansions.
I play 3 chars total, Paladin, Warrior and Demon Hunter, I generally stick to melee because I find its a shared game playstyle so my brain doesnât have to remember the extra nuances that come with playing a caster.
I only do PVE on one character the other two are for Open World / PVP.
I donât play my alts in general. I mainly focus on this character.
I get bored really easily, so I have a few. I just change whenever I feel myself struggling on my main. For some weird reason I enjoy the levelling experience in this game, and I use alts to explore areas I havenât before (thank you Chromie). It helps re-ignite the passion I once had for this game.
I tend to play my main almost exclusively for first couple of months, then level alts for fun and to collect any class / armour type specific rewards. Hunter is usually near the front of the queue to collect cool new pets.
Iâve not even started my alts yet. And main reason for this is the new profession system. I enjoyed my alts as crafters mainly before. Didnât care much about high-end gear for them but rather used them to craft enchants, sockets and bags for my main and other alts. They ruined it for me and a lot of other people because we sure as hell wonât play through a lengthy renown hamster wheel in order to get recipes to skill to max.
Iâm almost certain they already realised that their way of âalt-friendlinessâ will cause more people to unsub during / after season 1 because theyâre bored after playing through with one character and cba to do it again.
I only play with 1 character. I realised that in S2 of Shadowlands. Doing the same content over and over on different toons just burns me out, and at the end of the day, it doesnât provide me with anything more, since everything you gain pretty much âresetsâ the next patch.
That being said, I still level up all my toons to max lvl, and usually gear them up via WQ / timewalking gear, or some catchup if itâs available. Why do I use them? Mainly for farming mounts, getting some mogs, magetower etc. Purely vanity.
100% this.
I donât play alts.
Well, I only have set time for my main - ele shaman and thatâs Tue & Thu rbgs atm. Otherwise I play what I feel like playing and thatâs two alts currently, got them full hnr gear and I donât really stress about catching up with them more. Weâll see. I remember I ended up with the same number in Shadowlands and 2 characters with bis gear felt perfectly managable for me but by the third one I was really losing motivation. Not even talking about the time I can or am willing to invest on the game.
