How do you survive as warr in PvP?

Me and my friends are playing 3v3 currently, ive tried both fury and arms, got 450 ivl our exp is like hmmm around 1500ish. Right now im struggling to just stay alive, i just get tunneled like crazy, my healer is popping everything to keep me alive. I did not have this problem while playing retri and DH earlier seasons. But i found warr more fun in PvE but im really struggling in PvP

Any tip you use to stay alive?

Well Dh and retri has better tools to survive than warrior. I think most popular tip is get right corruption or reroll dh/uhdk/ww/assa. I’m not good at pvp, but i enjoy my arms warrior in pvp. Even when it is mostly banging my head against wall facing these other s-tier specs.

It’s never been easy to survive as a warrior in PVP, you will get focused but in order to disrupt their gameplan you can also focus their weakest link or most vulnerable, one of the dps’s on you for example that is in leather for example.

Depending on your group makeup you use CC or interrupts. If you’re getting targeted then you might need to break LOS like getting behind a pillar or jumping away if you’re getting melted down by range.

If you just try to heal through the burst that the other team is dealing on you without any CC and just taking it to the face then you’re going to have a bad time, you have to disrupt their offense or gameplan and then after that as a warrior you’re able to sustain more consistent damage but you need the heals and to outlast that initial burst.

yeah it does feel like i have less room for mistakes, compared to lets say when i used to play retri or DH. My mates always tell me to do something but i cant because i dont have any tools like other classes :stuck_out_tongue: and getting kited is a b*tch. But its fun to cleave as arms ^^ and honestly this exp is horrible when it comes to alts and i dont have time to focus on any other class than my warr. I want to make it work

That’s why I prefer the heals on azrites with only 1 absorb shield. Trinkets, I go with absorb and hp pvp trinkets, they’re great. Kings sword for extra heals. Spell reflect and disarm or if the opponent is one way focused I go with the pvp talnet which shorten my commanding shout cd to 1min. It is amazing. Also I use the new neck talnet like the one i forgot its name on rank 2 ,which gives you heals each time it procs on dmg. As main and another back up I got with the flame neck talnet to heal my self sometimes when things goes south. Defensive stance as well for sure. Yes and get above 10% versatility with that neck talent which gives you more on versatility stacking to 8.

Sorry I cant remember the names and I reply from my phone. To lazy to get the correct names out of the internet. Good luck.

Kiting with Thirst for Battle and Piercing Howl is suprisingly effective.

That being said most of the time you dont survive, accept it, and queue again. If you manage to survive the burst you do tend to win though.

I’m assuming this is your warrior OP.
For starters you need way more versatility than what you have. All that critical strike you’re sitting on right now, should be swapped for versatility.

Versatility and Dstance is what you have to reduce damage, and nothing else. Rest comes from good positioning, proper CC and PvP talents.

Hey Tiliqua
that is a great question considering both specs are soo far apart it feels almost like playing a different class to some extent.

now regarding arena, arms is indeed “harder” to play specially (as you pointed out) due to the lack of self-heal which. Since you play mainly Fury this will be quite a head turner for you and my main advise is to practice practice practice, but practice what? you ask.
For starters you go into BGs, you will see soon why i don’t suggest arenas quite just yet, as arms your defensive CDs are the hardest to manage, because again no self-heal, therefore you need to use these only on the most crucial points and if you mistime it or save it for a even more clutch situation, you lose.

every arms warrior as been through this and you only learn by practising, better in BGs than arenas since its a bit more chill and depending on the arena you can pick your targets according to your comfort level as you go on this path.

you will fail a lot, and you might get upset. But remember, arms warrior is NOT a solo spec for pvp, the sooner you understand this the better , its dependent on his team to go full :muscle: ham :muscle:, and once it goes its literally a juggernaut if played correctly.

with all this said, you can still play Fury spec, but mainly in 2vs2. Fury bring little utility compared to arms and that’s why it can play a role in 2s, regarding 3vs3 then you have to go arms since its an amazing team player.

little summary regarding def cds:
Avatar (azerite trait Bastion of Might :point_right:very important :point_left:- this is the def cd you use the most deliberately, don’t save Avatar just to increase your dps, use it for defence as well, because when you do means you can go :mechanical_arm:all in :mechanical_arm: a bit more, again you gotta have the azerite trait (to unlock it you have to spec protection btw)

Rallying Shout - this is the cd you use on the majority of the time (varies with experience and situation) BEFORE Die by the Sword

Die by the Sword - is basically the warrior “bubble”, this cd if used incorrectly either too soon or too late or even when you didn’t need it at all and your healer had you all along will make you lose the arena, period. (don’t use it when you have like 7% hp, specially vs casters)

all this comes with practice and a lot of :weary:feelsbatman :weary: moments but the rewards are nice in my opinion.

its a slower pace, comparing to fury, but every hit really does matter.

i hope this has managed to help you somehow Tiliqua and feel free to keep asking, i am sure the rest of the warrior community will be glad to help you out.
oh and remember to check some guides on youtube, helps a lot.

Use healthpotions a lot!

But in all seriousness, the fellow above me gave a good answer. I’ll add a few tips aswell.

You must get back into defensive stance before a stun on you is about to happen, thats one of the most important things. When Kidney Shot is about to come off cd you need to get into defensive stance that is certainly the key to staying alive most of time as an Arms Warrior.

Make sure you use your kick on spells that are the most threatning, for instance don’t kick immolate save it for Chaos bolts. Same logic needs to be applied to Spell reflection, it must be used wisely and not randomly as i see a lot of Warriors do.

Also try and use pillar to your advantage you can quite effectivly LoS by just moving a few yards (on some maps) pillars are your friends.

Most importantly is to respect enemy cooldowns, if a Warlock pops infernal and you don’t have your Kick and atleast one of SR and SB you need to Leap/Bladestorm away to safety til his cooldowns are over.

Although it goes without saying make sure you have the right pvptalents depending on what you are facing. If your against Pshyical damage use Disarm against caster Spell Reflection.

Versatility is a stat you should stack as much as possible, as long as you don’t drop under 21-22% haste it should be give priority over all the other stats. Be sure to take three essences which provides you with Versatility, Lucid Dreams, Vision of Perfection, Conflict and Strife.

Most of all its about practice just keep playing and you will learn and improve bit by bit. Arms is a lot harder to master than some my realize at first sight you need to be very weary of your mobility try and use Bladestorm (you need 1 trait) as a way to connect rather than for damage (unless they stack up to much than its too juicy to pass up) so you can preferably save your leap for when you are going to be in trouble.

  1. Never Play Fury in 3s , unless you will play a comb that will help you kite enemies during there CDs with slows + disarms + fears . But still , 9 out of 10 times you will die VS as brain dead comb like DH+DK or walking dead in seconds unless they are noobs, just heads up if you love Fury : your heart will be broken

  2. Arms is the worst and slowest spec in all 12 classes in WOW , but is has more Survivability than Fury but ZERO self healing . Set in defensive stance 90 of game and only go out of it if you know you will be safe and its time to kill your target fast .
Never use Fear without the healer being in range , he will just dispel it and you will be wasting a CD.
ALWAYS change your PVE and PVP talents based on match , Like for example if you are up against double mele , its a really got idea to have a disarm while against mage combs Banner + spell reflect could be good specially that Malidict is back to be a good trinket in Arena

In the end , you better off NOT doing Arena as Warrior , just play a DH , Monk , DK , or Rogue for EZ mode Rating clime

…versatility

Stack up Mastery 20-25%
Get good gear

U can maybe pwn and Survive

so… neither of the mesages all of u gave to this guy are corect. Arms in 3s is almost never the target btw and if it is its a pain for clases to kill us. talking about arena. Conflict and strife majorbtw is a must, stak versa on everything gems-ring enchants- trinkets etc, even on wep… just click my profile. Use ure pvp talents whise, put banner b4 incoming cc on your healer, use disarm on pala wins, warrior avatar,dk unholy frenzy etc… use reflect only u know u cant interupt or Los a cast. And one more thing… use heroic leap defensivly. jump behind a pillar LOS ure oponent and make sure u are always in your healer LINE of sight
