How does crit work?

I was wondering how crit exact works? Lets say i got 20% crit does that have chance of 20% procent the ability will be a criticial strike or will it be 20% extra damage?

Crit is the probability of any given attack critting.

For example, if you have 22% Crfit, there is a 22% chance that any given attack you make will be a Critical Strike.

Also, just to quickly add to that:
On baseline, without etra effects, critical strikes always deal 100% of extra damage (so twice the normal attack) in pve, and 50% extra damage in pvp (if I’m still up to speed on my knowledge there).

Thank you guys i know enouch

ele shamans for example deal 250% crit dmg instead of usual 200%.

And i think warlock chaos bolt is always a crit, but crit chance for that spell instead increases its dmg. So there are nuances.
