I have encountered this a lot of times, it absorbs damage, after some damage taken it dies, otherwise the player can control it’s character again.
Sounds easy right? Well back to reality we just encountered a Demon Hunter with podtender, me and my buddy did over 30k to it according to details, the healer just put thorns on it, didn’t see any barnskin/ironskin or other damage reduction abilities, healed a lot but those 30k weren’t enough, the DH managed to survive.
The tooltip of podtender clearly says “If the wildseed takes more than (Attack power * 10 * 1) damage during this time, you die.”.
This tells me any healing done shouldn’t matter on the pod right?
I checked one of my own character with podtender which has 198 ilvl, my podtender absorbs 13940 damage, so those over 30k damage should have been enough.
I’m not here to trash on podtender, I think it’s fine, it’s just that it doesn’t seem to reflect the tooltip at all.
So my question in title remains, how does podtender work?
BoP is fairly useless vs anything that is not a warrior or monk. And even then, bop rarely will save your butt as both of these classes do not only physical damage. All casters and 90% of the melee - most of their damage comes from different types of damage (like holy for ret, frost or shadow for dk etc etc).
Ye right my bad, well it just says after it takes X (lets say 14k) damage the pod will die, I hit it for 6k, that means 8k remains to kill it.
What happens if someone heals it for 6k, and I later hit it for 4k, just reading the tooltip the pod should have 4k more hp to be killed right? or will the heal apply and pod has 10k health?
Nope. Rule of thumb is this: unless tolltip says something about reduced healing, not being able to put cd’s on it, not being able to heal it etc - then you can do all of those. Yeah, pod’s tooltip is sh*t, it should just say that it is 14k hp and that’s it.
It’s not bugged and it does reflect a tooltip? Shields, defensives etc all reduce damage taken. If it was to work like that, you’d die after taking “your healthpool” of damage, regardless of defensives used.
And yet sometimes it just randomly dies even though i throw dozens of thousands of healing on it. And other times it lives with bo healing and 2 people hitting it.
I might be failing to understand it too, it just seems weird/buggy to me.
