If for instance, the whole enemy team in a bg reports a player for something he hasnt actually done - can this report automaticallly ban this player or it will be first investigated by blizzard admins?
Obviously I’m talking about any kind of reporting.
These reports give informations to GMs that they should start to investigate that person, they are checking logs etc. It’s not autoban because of many reports so don’t worry, you won’t get ban if you didn’t do anything bad.
That would be kinda stupid, if i got bored with my name i could go around orgrimmar and pay gold to people to report my name so i could have free name change?
A GM should have to look at something before any player is banned, silenced, made to change their name, or anything else.
Have Blizzard no idea what the WOW community is like? I’m quite sure like a pack of frat boys there are lots of people would right click report just for the laugh of it.
Because one bot goes down, they put up the next one. It obviously is a viable business or they wouldn’t persist in doing it. Also the hackers/botters/scammers are always trying to innovate and think up something new. A step ahead of the law if you like, and until it is discovered it is very hard to catch them.
No no, i mean when someone comes to forum and he says that he and many other people reported one concrete name for botting many times, and he goes and does his job like no one ever reported him. I know botter problem is like hydra, you cut off one, two new will grow.
Automated banning is causing self harm because if people figured out how to abuse the system behind it, they absolutely will do it.
Therefore we should assume that such way is not applied to the game.
I know of some instances where people had to change names that were completely fine, because to many people reported them.
Currently there is a mass guild on an RP realm that has a leader with some insecurities, who has his guild massreport players that do anything that might interfere with his views.
Thread got deleted due to witch hunting, but tldr:
Dude was chilling at a spot RPing, Guild wanted to use that spot for RPing and recruiting, dude didn’t want to move so they massreported him, dude got booted and silenced for a few days.
Botters will never get banned as soon as detected as that would show them how they were detected.
Botters are most likely detected by the system (Patterndetection), even if you don’t report them and i highly doubt that reporting someone for botting has any influence at all.
That might be one option, but your account will also get flagged for having an inappropriate name and after 3 (not sure on the number) forced name changes, you will get a temp ban, as far as i know.
I haven’t tested it but i’m pretty sure you could also use the character restore feature after you created a new toon with your name to flag your character for a name change.
