Been wondering for a while, is the loot you get from it completly randomly selected from any dungeon regardless or what dungeon you clear this week or is it only selected from the mythic dungeons you cleared that week?
Completely random. ilvl is based on the highest key regardless of time.

the loot is picked from all dungeons available regardless which dungeon you ran.
so just pick the one dungeon thats the easiest for you and run your +15 to get an item from the weekly chest.

Real answer: drawn from a pool determined by highest ilvl dungeon completed (not timed)

Joke answer: it looks at a pool of loot available and chooses whichever won’t be of use to you.
Ion has hired moles in every governmental data collections agency across the world, they then scan you brain and send that info straight to Blizzard where they analyse your thoughts and check what item you are thinking in your head that you want.
Then they go into your account and put a big fat goose egg next to your name to indicate that it isn’t available to be looted by you.
Jokes aside its pure rng, like a slot machine.
ye its total RNG. However you will NOT receive a cloak or any Azerite piece (if you browse loot on mythic 0 in dungeon journal please exclude those). Cloak is covered by 8.3 questline and Azerite is purchased for Titan Residuum.
Other than that, it’s completely random regardless of which dungeons you ran. A fix will come in Shadowlands where you will be able to have slightly more control over what you get.
There’s one more thing people seem to be missing.
Random 475 Azerite costs 4,750 titan residuum
Weekly reward from chest is
2150 from 15
2240 from 16
2330 from 17
2420 from 18
Running a +18 will enable you to have a shot at 475 bis (random) every 2 weeks instead of every 3 (not counting scrapping stuff).
If you feel not like RNGing it, you may save up 20,000 for specific one but that’s an INSANE grind. 8 weeks worth of currency even with pushing high keys.
