So I’ve scarcely been playing WoW for a week now, and I’ve noticed a lot of the appearances in the collection are tagged as “World Drop”.
I’m a bit of a loss as to he meaning of it, does it mean it can drop from any NPC’s killed in the world? or do they drop from specific groups of NPC’s?
For instance, I’m interested in trying to get my hands on the Vanguard and Glorious plate sets, but I can’t seem to find a straight answer of what actually drops them.
Most of the information I find when doing google searches is incomplete or years old.
So if anyone could clarify this confusion for me, that would be great.
Which is what I just did, and found that Vanguard is a recolor of Glorious:
Here’s the thing. There are approximately a zillion pages on the net about WoW stuff. People make them all the time. Then the game changes, fro expansion to expansion and even from patch to patch, and the pages people made become out of date. But Google doesn’t know that.
Wowhead keeps the current database pretty well up to date. So for any questions about items or quests, your search will probably start and end at Wowhead.
In general “World Drop” just tells you that the items drops from something in the world. Sometimes, items can drop from any mob in a specific zone. Sometimes, items can drop from any mob in an expansion. Usually, items drop from specific sets of mobs.
For example, if you hit the Wowhead page for Glorious Breastplate, it will tell you which mobs it drops from, and a guess at the drop rate, based on people who use their client addon recording it:
Wowhead is one of the Three Essential Sites you need to bookmark to get around this game. The others are:
which will tell you all about playing your class, and
where you can get addons that will change your view of your UI, and help with various things.
YouTube is also a good source of information. If it’s in WoW, it’s in YouTube somewhere, but do be mindful of the game changing. Check the date on the video before you rely on it.
One more question: Are the loot drops always the same for NPC’s regardless of your level? or is there a risk that you out-level enemies and start getting different/higher level loot?
Like can I come back at level 110-120 and farm the pertinent enemies if I so choose, or should I try to grind out kills before level 60?
The way it works now is that the loot scales to your level - up to the level of the expansion. So at 60, you will see all Classic loot scaled to 60, and if you come back at 120, you will still see all Classic loot scaled to 60.
For the purpose of transmog, though, the level scaling won’t matter; you can still get it, and it will still look the same.
As I see Gráinne already covered the subject really well. Can confirm that it is perfectly accurate and got just a tiny, little, extra info why it is good to visit some content on the higher level rather than on the lower one.
Big Love Rocket can only be obtained by characters on level 110 or higher. So while you can still get heart-shaped-box on the lower level you can’t get that mount this way.
