How hard is it to learn tanking?

I haven’t really tanked before in high m+ rand raids.

I have tanked abit in lfr just to see how it felt.

It seems hard cuz you have to know alot about every dungeon and what mobs to pull and the mechanics of the boss.

When I play dps I just learn the dungeon and the mechanics as im playing the dungeon.

Tanking raids are super simple, tanking m+ is far more complex, well if u wanna do high keys, u need to adapt to new routes very often, also u should be confident and lead the grp, also know what pulls is ahead and speak in voice etc. tanking in raids = just tank taun rotations and placement. pretty much the most easy thing u can do in wow.

Tanking is very straight forward, maintaing aggro, and mitigating damage is the fundamentals.

The rest is just expereince, just like how dps need to learn when to pop cooldowns and healers need to know to push hps.

tanking isn’t so bad to be honest… just learn to use mitigation skills at the right times and you’ll be fine…

aggro is a non issue these days … it is pretty easy to keep threat.

don’t over think it too much … can seem daunting… but truth is most people already know about the dungeons anyway so you don’t have to! …

just give it a go and don’t get to disheartened if the more idiotic of the player base accuses you of making mistakes…

part of becoming a good tank is making those mistakes and learning how to improve from them.

it’s not realy hard , but it take times for sure , it realy depends , did you do a lot of m+ this patch ? or you have no experience .

you really need to know mechanics before going into M+ or Raid, or you will look like a clown and troll your groups

Lol no.

Balance druids, retris and fire mages will rip aggro off you with ease if you’re a guardian druid or blood dk when they blow their CDs.

in fairness… i haven’t really played since JAN… but i never had any issues put it that way.

Depends on the content, in raids tanking is the easiest role by far. It’s more difficult in dungeon though.

Tanking in raid is IMHO the most boring experience. By that, the strategy is all aboot switching active tank every 30s, ie when boss hit you so hard that you can’t afford being hit by such ability again.

Now M+ tanking is on another level.
Firstly you’re expected to know the latest trending route. They sometimes completely change the route, so be ready to often change routes.
Then you’re expected to know how specs are dealing damages. For instance, you would want to make larger pulls if your team has a fire M+.
Also, you’re expected to know what classes bring, more especially yours. Since you’re posting on a warrior, I guess you’re a warrior main, so You’re expected to know which spells are being dodged while using spell shield.
Lastly, you’re expected to know covenants interactions.

Tldr : tanking in raid requires no other knowledge Than your class whereas M+ is more demanding.

There’s a lot of good information there.

As others have said, in raids tanking is relatively chill. In M+, you’ll have a ton of responsibilities, but you’ll also be able to get groups very quickly.
