Hi, so I will soon hit lvl25 and I am just wondering how hard in reality is the BFD raid?
Most of the groups in world chat I see requires high item level/gear score, world buffs, 7/7exp, logs, full consumes, very specific high dps specs, etc. Are this raid really that hard, that it’s such a high barrier of entry?
I am someone who is atm doing 20’s in m+ / used to do heroic/mythic raids in retail and these seem to have lower requirements to enter groups than BFD raid in SoD. So I was simply wondering - is it that hard?
I remember even in wrath classic, raiding in Naxx/Ulduar/ToC with pugs wasn’t that demanding to enter the raid groups - just have GS and you are good to go for most sunday full clear groups, as long as you click buttons and avoid fire.
As for guilds - I’ve seen guilds that recruit advertise that they raid 2nights/week 20-23, etc. - does it really require so much time to clear?..
It really depends on the player. You can go in and get the mechanics in 1 pull. The 7/7 groups are tryhards who just want to clear it all in 1 shot. Best bet is to start off going in alt runs or join a guild. The first 5 bosses are pushovers, the last 2 are harder specially the 6th cause people just fail at mechanics or the healers lack output. They’re all doable with just dungeon loot, you don’t need BiS items, not by a long shot. If all goes well the raid is under 1 hour, but lots of groups will struggle on the 6th boss for hours. Last boss can be a struggle if the tanks don’t know what to do.
I can see why pug groups/semi-guild groups want experienced people with consumes and buffs, having seen the quality of people you find in pugs… I know not all of them are bad, but the ones we seem to find are terrible.
It’s kinda off putting, you think it’s going to be a casual season given the level caps but then people ask for the earth when it comes to raid requirments, wth
On the topic of “how hard the raid is”. Depends what are u used to and how u used to play. If u are vanilla player that would like to go in blind u might have trouble as many mechanics are a step up from average difficulty of vanilla (by vanilla I mean no TBC, no Wrath).
if you check any guide or video the raid might be too easy for you . And as always the most difficult mechanic in raid are other people.
Then u will be gatekeeped by other people requiring you to get 250gs+ (which is not needed at all, but people just want raid to be steamrolled, and even then they wipe on 6th boss because they somehow killed it last time without understanding how it works ).
What I would recommend first thing, look for guild, do not waste ur time and nerves with pugs, rn they are highly toxic and will leave on second to third wipe , because they actually did not understand how certain mechanic does work on certain boss and blame everyone else instead.
I can see a lot of guilds for casuals and semi-hardcore players, looking for more people anytime of the day.
Does it differ from the wrath version of the dungeon, I mean apart from mob and boss HP? The only difficult boss on the 5 man one was the penultimate boss due to adds and people ignoring them.
I saw a stream of some hyper casual guild, that was wiping on murloc boss for 2h, for example, because they went in blind and, I can only assume, they weren’t used to such mechanics which are happening during that boss fight. (Obviously those are just dodge moving objects and falling stuff, but still)
It isn’t. It’s the only semi challenging content available.
The last 2-3 bosses are a bit harder and may cause a few wipes, but the worst of it was in the first 2 weeks when everyone was in levelling greens. Even PUGS can clear the raid in an hour or less and with no wipes now.
Every fight has like 2-3 mechanics so it’s not like they’re mechanically hard. The only fight in which you might need some spatial awareness is Gelihast.
