Then that makes you the toxic one.
The anxiety of tanking comes from people like this
People who suffer from anxiety tend to have a certain view of themselves, they want to be perceived as kind, caring people.
I told the OP, to go into a dungeon, pull everything, wipe the group, and then blame the healer, he would never do this, instead, he would spend countless hours studying YouTube videos on how to be a better tank.
So he is willingly putting himself back into the spotlight to be judged.
When you donât care is when youâve truly overcome anxiety â reading the opening post, the OP obviously still does.
No he was right it comes from not knowing the dungeon, boss or his tank spec
i started tanking this season for the first time
picked up DH, and let me tell you i have 2800 rio
rushing +20 like a piece of cake, while on my rogue i would get perma declined
i allso do 100k dps not carying at all about dps
i dont understant your anexiety lol its such chilled out gameplay
but i must say on tyranical weeks the everbloom trio and tot squid guy hurt me as hell.
other than that is quick sail
id advise you just pick your flow and dont try to overextend pulls
i tank like i think what would be good if i was on my rogue
This usually comes from not knowing how much you can take at which time. It is an experience issue for higher difficulty content and lack of knowledge
If he also dislikes to be the reason to wipe, he will hesistate to test his limits.
Slowly climbing would be the best thing.
You overcome anxiety by consistently exposing yourself to what causes the anxiety (facing the fears), not by becoming an uncaring, indifferent, antisocial individual that is inconsiderate of other people.
Pretty sure my tipps are worth more than the classic ââYou dont need to be affraidââ-shoulder-pat.
I tank in this game since WOTLK. Its better to help him improve after that his problems will disappear.
Well, tanking this season is not making me play tank this season at all. I have so many aggro problems. It does not seem like tanking anymore. It is trying to get aggro fulltime while you spend you rage on damage abilities while you want to use it on ironfurs. Moonfire, mangle, thrash and everything is on cooldown. Great; you have maybe aggro on 2 mobs if you are lucky. swipe swipe swipe swipe swipe, nah that does no crap either.
People didnât read the title or the OP.
The thread is about how someone overcame their tanking anxiety and was explaining how (even if accidentally) in case it helped others. He was happy heâd done it.
The fear of being seen as these things is what causes anxiety.
To not care how you are seen is what truly stops it.
Again, if the OP goes into a dungeon, pulls everything, wipes the group, and blames the healer, itâs only then does he truly not care.
Doing this helps him let go of whatever concerns he may have had and as a result his gameplay will improve.
I donât disagree in general. Itâs true that anxious people often do overly worry about what others think of them, and this causes a lot of stress and can twist personalities, but I donât feel that joining someoneâs key and then bricking it deliberately is a social way to go about addressing this. I just think if he keeps tanking no mater how he feels, itâll eventually go away too.
Yes but your more likely to learn if not getting abused by people
Not really. If someone flames in chat the key is done. I donât play with folks who canât behave
Yeah cos you never flame peoples skill
Nope cause it will end in report. Leaving is the better option
I can only agree. At the same time plenty of people seem to have perfectly alright experiences in M+ most of the time, in that sense perhaps itâs more the fear that people will give you abuse than that they actually will. I donât do M+ so I canât judge, but if that is the case itâs sad so many are afraid of others for no real reason. Perhaps the majority still is more patient and understanding than they get credit for.
Anxiety is a weird thing, it thrives on our imagination.
When I started out as a tank, I did it with guildies and friends to build a confidence, practice routes, pulls and etc. Once you are confident enough to know what you are doing, then you can enter the âshark infested watersâ which we call the pug scene.
Its understandable that a newbie tank might take it to heart from the âarmchair tanking specialistsâ DPS who are ready to rip out your throat the moment you even sneeze at the wrong time. But once you got confidence and the thick skin needed, then I go full âDont like my tanking? Fine, I can leave so you can take the reins Mr. Specialist dpsâ but I wont sit there and be your punching boxing bag for the whole run.
Now. I am fully expecting âomgez, Diva tank, elitist. Toxecâ replies but honestly?.. I dont care.
The pug scene like I said before are shark infested waters. So you have to become a shark yourself to survive there.
âA shark will not attack another sharkâ.
Regardless of the outcome, itâs knowing that youâre going to be just fine, is what True Confidence is.
The outcome was in the OPâs favor, he completed a +19 when he thought he was doing a +16, and now heâs spamming 18s because he feels like he overcame his anxiety, but he didnât really.
But it is, it addresses it perfectly, by showing him that the outcome is irrelevant and that whatâs important is his confidence.
I donât know about everyone else here, but Iâm convinced.
Bricking other peopleâs keys IS the way!
