Hi all. I’m currently playing as Night Fae on my Affliction Warlock but I absolutely hate it due to the whole class fantasy with it. How much would I be gimping myself in PVP/PVE by going as Necrolord/Venthyr? I know I’ll lose SoulShape which is really good in pvp and Soul Rot counts as an extra dot for malefic, but is it going to be make a HUGE difference by dropping Night Fae? On top of this, I plan on dabbling in Destro in the next tier, and Decimating Bolt just really feels like it fits the theme. I know the arguement would always be " play what you enjoy" but this really doesn’t help when you’re barred from groups for not being “optimal”. Thanks
Necrolord is definitely a good fantasy fit; It performs really well and if you’re at all considering Destruction I would 100% think about switching to them if you’re not enjoying Night Fae. As far as being barred from groups for not being “optimal” I’ve not experienced a group doing that at any point but if there are groups doing so they’re probably not the kind of groups you want to be in anyway.
Thanks for the reply mate, it’s always nice getting someone else’s opinion on the matter! I just wish class fantasy didn’t bother me so much
Night Fae is another DoT (and it’s AoE…) for Malefic Rupture basicly, works well with Inevitable Demise as well. I don’t like the Night Fae in general at all but it’s the best for PvP…
The problem with Venthy and Necrolord is that theya re both Shadow school as well, locking you out completely if you get intertupted (CS,Kick, etc), just saying.
Otherwise I’d roll Venthyr for sure…
Necrolord’s fleshcraft will get a huge buff in 9.0.5, decimating bolt will get a buff
I think it will be a difference of 2-4% damage per simulation, in reality might be even less / more dependend on circumstances like how you play, how long enemies survive and so on.
- keep in mind covenants might get kinda reworked / number fixed in 9.1 +
Don’t chose the covenant because of numbers, blizzard will change them. Best example is rogue, kyrian nerf.
