As someone who quit the class due to the continous push for irs old design which jsut wasnt friendly to the majority at all, the reworks have peaked my interests.
So im curious in PvE how are the speccs feeling with the changes…
Typically so far reworks have made classes brainless and overpowered, has this followed suit for the mage or?
They have juggled some of the stuff around, making selecting talents even more agravating in the left hand tree. Oh and nerfed incanters flow, cause reasons.
Now in left you have lesss invis options and have to sacrafice dragons breath to get 2 invis’s compared to live, or spend 3 talent points where it was 2 before to get the same level of invis options with a crapier timer on the 2nd invis.
The right hand side fire tree has some annoying crap as well, with mastery % being nerfed in gen and not stacking like it should for takeing some options.
Overall it feels like they just juggled some shiz and pretended its a rework, though no rune of power is nice.
Compared to live may have a tiny tiny tiny dps increase but only time will tell once live.
The dps increase is substantial, the rotation is completely different with the addition of glacial spike, RoF and comet storm. You most likely won’t use all three in all content, but the rotation feels completely different in both AoE and ST.
The addition of coldest snap gives frost a pretty bursty damage profile in M+, with the addition of comet storm and glacial spike to the rotation it means that you have to think about shattering your spells more.
Nerfing IF is good. Less variation on dmg and the dmg is shifted baseline. All the inv’s were op anyway. Im guessing pvp has you worried about your invis, frost’s burst is nuts with the new talents.
Tldr. Frost has a lot more interesting buttons to press and they fixed IV into a cd instead feeling bad when its not up. Fire has less annoying buffs to juggle, different build options and a lot less hard casts. Dunno about arcane.
Tuning seems good but who knows how it goes live. Judging by the last few reworks they’ve done its likely to stay strong.
Glacial spike, comet storm and even ray of frost could all be in the mixer. There should be plenty of buttons and more shatter mechanics… at least until people moan and they dumb it down and remove stuff like RoP and mind seer.
The only thing I’m not really liking to see for frost, is that Cone of Cold is part of the ST rotation, which means you have to be up close and personal.
Fire will be simple whiteout SKB, Frost looks good with this Glacial/Ray build. But im not sure about it after seeing this new nerfs. 12% on everything? So now our 15% Rune of Power compensation is gone. We will see when it come live but hell knows what they want.
SKB was never complicated. nor was difficult to use? so how u think it’d simplify the class is unknown. a buff appears u press Pyro, its not a difficult task.
the issue was it wasnt feasible in lots of situations due to when it procc’d lol. theres no complicated rotations regarding SKB. THe major thing thats going to make things simpler is the Removal of RoP and the option to decrease the CD on combust which will make Deciding when and where to use Combust being a simpler option.
I’m not saying that it was complicated, but rather that it was annoying at times when it didn’t wanted to get together with pyroclasm. It will be better now that it was fused (SKB+PYROCLASM), but i guess SKB will be a dead talent anyways, because Unleashed Inferno is just way to op to ignore, especially without ROP. Inferno’s damage bonus is just too big+ the cdr is great. But if you ask me, it still has a bit of a problem, ignite spred target numbers were nerfed, they making flamstrike baseline+trying to buff the flamestrike side of the talents, but flamestrike dosen’t scaling with Inferno so in the Combustion window i think its not worth to press anyways+ doesn’t use kinding either, and since with the inferno the point would be as much combustion as possible, the flamestrike is a waste of time or cooldown. But this is just my opinion, we will see it soon.
I don’t like this ignite spred build either, its not bad, just boring. I would be happy if they could come up with a sensible alternative solution that doesn’t sacrifice our combustions CDR, if our dps is based on Combustions. Maybe it would be good, if they making flamestrike to work with Kinding, and we could make a full pyroblast centric ignite sperd combustion then using flamestrikes outside of combo? Because now flamestrikes making hot streaks with a high chance witch isnt bad but again KINDING xDDD
