Greetings, I have trouble understanding how the Stable Master UI selects my second pet for me.

I have, as active pets: a cat, a bird and a turtle.
Another bird is in the stable.
Yet when I call my cat using the “Call Pet 1” ability, the turtle shows up instead of either of the birds (2nd active pet or pet remaining in stable).
Why is my turtle showing up ingame?
Your second main pet is determined by what pet you’ve placed in the marked slot(image) in your pet stables(accessed by talking to a stable master ingame).
Excellent - this is the information I required. All the older information I found talked about the “first stable slot”, which confused my greatly.
