It’s not as simple as it was in Legion. It’s not exactly complicated but there is more busy work which drags it down. Instead of focusing on the fun aspect (which was the dice rolling) you’re tracking stuff. The problem with Sub is you cannot 2 target cleave to any meaningful degree so you kind of have to go Outlaw if you want to m+ or feel useful on certain raid fights.
I have never liked Outlaw, however in this expansion it’s the most fun spec for me.
There are so many buttons to constantly press so there is always something to do.
And we do not have a rotation, but more of a priority list.
You are constantly using your CD’s and do not have to worry about saving CD’s for the next pack.
In m+ our dmg is higher than our other specs, however Sub still outshines us in pure single target.
We have a lot of interrupts with Kidney, gouge, kick and blind which are very useful in m+.
In raiding outlaw outshines the other rogue specs on any fight that has more than 1 target. And that is 6 out of 10 bosses.
On the 4 single target fights, Sub outperforms outlaw.
Roll the bones feels so much better than in BFA. And thanks to your conduits, you are sitting on 2 procs most of the time.
I recommend getting a WA that tracks most of your important CD’s and make sure they are always on cd.
It is still extremely strong in m+. World first +23 key was just done with outlaw in group. It’s the best rogue spec by far right now in everythig PvE.
The randomness can be annoying, especially in harder content (e.g. big high key m+ pulls). Overall it’s a very fun spec though. If we are talking numbers, outlaw is the best performing rogue spec in consistent aoe and single target.
Numerically Outlaw is good in both single target and AoE, however it brings nothing to raids so you’ll have a hard time getting there, specially with how melee unfriendly Castle Nathria is.
In m+ it really depends, if Bloodlust is already brought by another party member you might have chances to get in, but again you have no utility besides stuns from time to time and shroud which isn’t mandatory anymore.
It’s the only rogue spec I like…
I main a Rogue, but…I preferred Outlaw in BfA compared to abomination we got in SL.
In BfA Outlaw wasn’t so slow. Rotation was smoother, AoE was amazing and Roll the Bones at least had a reroll if you got bad buffs.
Outlaw in SL is slow as heck. Energy runs out too fast, GCD is an annoyance, especially with the opener where you gotta prep 10000 buttons in order to start your actual rotation. Roll the Bones can grant really bad buffs and you can’t do anything about it until your CD runs out so you can reroll again (at least you don’t spend combo points on it now, if anything).
At least in BfA Outlaw shined in M+ and was welcome.
I no longer raid or do M+, but even in open world I feel the spec plays really slow, runs out of energy too fast and just doesn’t deliver the satisfaction I felt in BfA.
Idk, I don’t have energy regen issues on my Outlaw. I play Venthyr (haste buff) and have around 14% Haste, plays smooth like butter. I skipped BfA, but compared to Legion, Outlaw is actually fun to play (altho I liked the turn on-turn off Blade Flurry better, lol. I know, I’m in the minority )
But I have to agree about the unnecessary preparation stuff, that’s annoying for sure. However, GCD was introduced in BfA, so I don’t know how that wasn’t a problem there…?
Haste plays a major role with energy here, especially if running the Stratagem talent and not Vigor. Without proper gear and Covenant, the energy is indeed a problem, it definitely offers a very slow and clunky gameplay
BfA didn’t have those issues, it was a nice fast-paced gameplay with rewarding damage, among the top when it comes to AoE and it felt really good.
You’d be accepted in M+ because of that primarily and we performed well in raids too!
It is! It’s driving me crazy D:
Covenant ability, roll the bones, slice and dice, your own cds…and then you get to do your rotation. It’s super annoying.
Yeah it was, but somehow Outlaw played muuuuch smoother and definitely was more welcome in M+ and raids.
I thought it would be better in SL, but the spec actually got worse x_x damage-wise and gameplay-wise.
