Diablo 3 was pretty smooth. Diablo 4 was extremely choppy on PC, but I think it’s a lot better now. Blizz actually spent a lot of time fixing D4’s engine. Overwatch always ran smoothly.
WoW ran very well early on, but in the last few expansions it got worse, and the devs don’t seem to care at all.
Half-joking. I literally have my fps locked to 30 despite my PC being able to go higher. But it’s fun seeing people throw a fit when their fps drops below 240.
My guy if you can stomach playing a PC mouse and keyboard game with constant cursor movement at 30 fps in 2025, more power to you, but you’re definitely not thet target audience for this post.
No one is asking for CSGO esports performance, but there are mountains of middle ground between “dropping from 240”, and the game not being able to hold 70 without stuttering in cities on a 9800x3d.
at this point everyone knows that wow puts most of its thing on cpu.
those people that comes here and say everything is fine are trolling.
i saw a youtube video , dude was testing wow on a high end pc in 2025.
it had graphic glitches and bugs and cpu overload. in dornogal
Yeah, WoW is very CPU-intensive. It needs a specific CPU that’s good at single-core performance. So it really just depends what CPU you got. Mine isn’t that great. I just pray that they do more “indoors” dungeons (DFC) and raids as opposed to “outdoors” ones (think the outdoor parts of Liberation of Undermine, Operation: Floodgate).
The entire Undermine city was just awful for performance, too. Glad we’re past that zone now.
WoW has always had the problem that if you move very fast it gets choppy because it needs to load areas, and the areas are very small so instead of feeling like a big stutter every once in a while it just feels like unstable FPS.
well thats pc issue on your end. I had trumpy pc when I played on dragonflight but lo and behold updating 10years old machine fixed it. Might be time to do same for you too
No, absolutely not a PC issue, look at the CPU I mentioned in previous replies. It’s a blindness issue of not seeing the stutters.
And that’s the problem because the game cannot handle these speeds in populated and busy areas, but it’s also far from the only problem. Every action taken that involves the UI incurs a stutter spike, some are smaller 13,14ms spikes so they may not be visible at lower fps like 60, but it’s extremely easy to spot at 120fps.
Open the map, open the bag, get a new appearance, load into another aggressively pushed shard, all of those cause stutters and you’re doing that stuff all the time.
I feel it ran the best during Shadowlands because Oribos is the only kind of city this game can handle with the amount of players we have. A small, isolated circle with barely anything in it, separated by hidden loading screens from all the other zones in the expansion.
It’s so incredibly funny that some people here claim it to be a pc issue whilst the game IS KNOWN for frametime spikes and/or spiking framerates in busy areas (orgri, dornogal etc) , its a simple engine limitation. the amount of blizz simps here is astounding. wow isn’t alone - all older mmo’s like this (swtor for example, even sto) chop in busy areas…
I don’t have any stutters on retail except for CB on second pull. But that’s about it.
Everything runs smooth for me.
I think Blizzard is one of the most hated studios for years. Why should anyone defend poor performance, especially if being affected by it? Makes no sense to not call out a flaw if it’s there.
If I had performance issues, I’d be spamming the forum every day, that’s for sure.
Really? I am pretty sure the FF14 community loves SE. Even if Yoshi P tells you to go play another game because FF14 lacks content until the next patch.
If WoW devs said something similar… oof… no way the reaction would be even remotely the same.
My old over 10 year old PC worked fine in DF and my new one works fine in WWI (although it better … had.). I have issues with flying but stuttering isn’t one of them.
In a remote area in stormwind I got 500+fps, in dornogal AH I get 60 fps. Flying does drop my FPS. I unchecked the 2 boxes in flying section in settings that add the “wind effect”. That helped with the FPS issues a little bit.
