How is ww in pvp as of 8.1?

Anyone given it a test out wont be on til next week and intrested

I only played 10 games.

Damage better, defense way worse.

8/10 games im the default target to train. Doenst matter if its RMP, Turbo, Castercleaves, Hunter Cleaves.

Dampening Harm is really good.
FoF if 2-3 stack together can get nasty for them.

ToD Execute seems wasted, well for me with a Shadow as partner at least. Not once had a situation where it decided the game. Could only use it 2 times iirc maybe only once and this was rly at 1%.

Walking the Wind, the slow/root break, seems awefull. Even against mages. Most of the time they still play with a Rogue so autoslow and it proccs and wont help you with any Nova what so ever.

Didnt played enough to form a resume for Azerite Traits. Used 3 RSK traits for the games.

Maybe later will opt for 1 RKS 1 FoF 1 Xuen. Will see.

Damage is good, I absolutely obliterated people at times when they were caught in a full stun

Parry on FoF feels good with Turbo Fists, not a lot of people are aware of that so they keep bashing/maiming etc into it, it is also a good tool to avoid damage against melees

As for traits, I was using 1 RSK, 1 FoF and 1 Xuen. The RSK trait doesn’t seem worth it as it only procs for about 2.5k non crit (385). It is usually like 1-2% of my damage, so I’m pretty sure another FoF trait would be better

I was playing 2s by the way

WW is amazing right now, not sure if it feels broken because of the state we have been in for so long and i just got used to being so weak for so long, or if its actually broken
I seem to out dps every single class in the game as long as i dont have to run

currently aint running any of the new traits, just running tripple palm

Turbo fists is a must pick in every single matchup, so is fortifying brew
and i always play reverse harm almost, seeing as its just a ToD on steroids, and it does a surprising amount of dmg in pvp (14-15k hits)

Loving WW atm, hope we dont get touched

Good to hear, that turbo fist looks really fun. Alpha tiger looks fun as well, I can’t wait.

This.
Can’t wait to level up this monk and get to pvp. With 7h exp buff, heirlooms and 30% warmode it should be a breeze.

What buff are u talking about ?

Just the monk daily stacked.

its fine but it feels really weird, the lack of defensive cds is really annoying.

To me it feels so much better that WW is my main spec again. in 8.0 I genuinely thought bg:s were unplayable as WW, but now it feels like mists again. Don’t really care about arena.

I’m enjoying it i can 1v2 now I have more damage. Not sure what azerite traits are best now though for pvp. I can’t decide

Totally awesome. Ma ww 86 now. Can’t wait.

Interesting!

As a monk that’s been unable to play for about 4 months, it ‘looks’ a lot like peoples playstyle has altered an enormous amount, even before the patch.

So a few quick questions of my own, for Wind walker PvP:-

1 - Is chi wave the best choice now?
2 - Ascension or fist of the white tiger? (Fist seemed fairly mandatory before i dissapeared though i’m seeing people using ascension instead now).
3 - Dampen Harm or inner strength?
4 - Why Rushing jade wind, what’s the case for this?
5 - Whirling dragon punch or Serenity?
6 - How is our basic ‘rotation’, or rather ‘opener’, right now if we don’t run with fist of the white tiger?
7 - Any advice on stat priority. It was Vers/Mast when i departed, or are we going another way now?

I’ve missed heck of a lot, any tips would be welcome!

It seems like it’s more bugged than before when i checked my last games damage so it is not worth running anymore. Go Eye of the Tiger.

Acension is better, You need in PvP a lot more Energy and Setup than in PvE so building up Chi and using other spells with energy cost will make no problems.
You don’t want to find yourself in PvP having nothing to press because of Energy Problems.

Diffuse Magic against Caster Teams, Dampen Harm against Melee/ Burst cleaves, Inner Strength against Rot teams like Feral/Assa etc where the overall reduction is a lot higher than with Dampen Harm.

It’s not a must, I think Hit Combo is better atm.

Serenity always, I didn’t found any situations where SEF might be better. But didn’t try it out yet as much.

Basic rotation depends on your traits. If you have 3x Open Palm you might want to keep Fists of Fury on cooldown and always aim getting it off. other than that the usual rotation tigerpalm>rising sun kick>palm>blackout kick etc. Also when Reverse Harm is off cooldown always aim to get the most use of it and keep it on CD (Quick Reminder it only does damage when you heal succesfully damage so using it on team mates is better when you are at 100% health for example) and then just use the usual rotation again.

Versatility/Crit is the way to go but Vers/Mastery is also good try to get a good balance between all 3 stats.

I have 12% Versatility, 9% Haste, 20% Crit and 28% Mastery. You should never go above 10% Haste.

General Tip: If you can make sure that you won’t be target drop Fortifying Brew for other helping traits, against Melee Cleaves for example is Turbo Fists/Reverse Harm/Disarm a good choice, so is against Caster Teams Wind Waker/Reverse Harm/Turbo Fists or Disabling Reach/Alpha Tiger a good choice too. For maximum peel go Ride the Wind/Wind Waker/Reverse Harm.

Thank you so much, that is some brilliant advice!

Do you have any tips about macroing paralysis to a certain target rather than clicking with the mouse, I still am confused about macros but as ww, especially with reverse harm I feel I should

So tried it out today and that karma change makes me sad but alpha tiger and acsenion make the spec so fluid and love turbo fist. Ww is actually quite fun in randoms now. This is coming from a 114 though keep that in mind lol.
