How long do you think WoW will continue?

Two in a day :stuck_out_tongue:
I assume wow will run indefinently even if to a lesser capacity (fewer servers etc) but this is not about what I think, tell me what you think!

What do you think for the future of WoW?

How many more expansions do you think we will get?

Do you think we will see something like wow2 or another mmo spin-off based in this universe/game?

Do you think they will attempt to drastically overhaul the game at some point and preserve what we have/had with something like the wow classic model?

Do you think WoW/Blizzard team have thought about this and made any plans/preparation for it?

Do you think they will just let it drop off and no longer care for it?

I think the game could go on for quite some time, they could still do so much with it. I’m pretty sure 10 years from now WoW will still be going, hopefully doing better than now

They will however need to overhaul the engine at some point, not necessarily the graphics but optimisation needs work for sure.

I think if and when Blizzard decides it’s over and is ready to move on there will be some legacy servers for WoW so people can keep their characters forever.

I think so also, classic had such a large impact, I don’t know if future legacy iterations will have the same kind of draw but I think it could be profitable. I guess WoW will always have a place in many players heart but I am curious how it does at attracting new player. My best guess is it has the potential to outlive us all but potential can be squandered if mismanaged I guess.

Definently some overhauling to go down, for an MMO we still get lots of lag when too many player in a single zone, I guess stuff like azerite/essences really contributes to lag and if they want to progress this system it may not be so viable on what we have currently.

Depends on expansions rly. For now we have had a semi consistant good/bad expansion rotation, but i do think that they will shut it down if we hit 2 bad expansion in a row , i cant see them retaining the player base if that happens.

As long as it keeps making money.

How long has a lot of franchises been running. I mean look at Final (sic) Fantasy.

Simple.
WoW will go as long as there will be people who want to play it.

Quite sure WoW will go on in one way or the other as long as Blizzard(or activision, ugh) exists… even if playerbase would drop to support maybe handful of realms at best and eventually going in maintenance mode.

Plus ofc all the old versions they could / will re-relase… and maybe even re-re-release

Well, a few more expansions like WOD and BfA, and

I’ve seen “dead” MMOs, empty zones, empty capitals…WoW is not immune to this, especially if Blizzard moves on to other projects.

It will go until a new mmorpg has enough charm to take WoW players away, but i believe thats far away atm.

Or when the vr reaches the lvl that’s able to handle more complex games.

Not for long year by year the number of players is going down and very few new players step into it

The game is still churning out expansions every few years. And then there’ll be the maintenance mode that’ll last longer still…

So all that into consideration, the game will be around still when I pass away from old age.

Well what i think is, why are all the good tasting stuff so bad for us D:

+WoW will still have a long run, and theres no end in sight. Yes they had a rocky expansion, but lets hope Shadowlands have a good clean run.

It’s like most things it will carry on as long as it makes money, the real passion of course left when the core blizzard people did, there is a line that can be crossed though - too many decisions about the game that people don’t like and it could eventually become unsustainable to keep it going.
For now it appears enough people enjoy it for it to carry on.

I don’t understand this good/bad expansion thing. People have always complained about current expansions and looked back to past ones in a much better way. Except for WoD.

Back when Cataclysm was there, people hated it. Now, I see people missing Cataclysm.

Shadowlands will release, people will complain about Shadowlands. Whatever after Shadowlands will release and enough time has passed for people to miss BfA.

Feel free to quote this post in 2024 :joy:

I would like Blizzard to do the same thing as Square Enix did for FF14. They redo the game.

By that, I mean the graphics, to have something better and the engine also because for exemple doing large scale fights on BGs where we are 40vs40 always lags which is not normal especially in 2020 and of course more beautiful graphics.

Wow is a big magnet for gamers, and they seem to do a lot to keep gamers interested in playing, so if they keep blizzcon up an running and collect fans suggestions and wishes for conscideration i´m sure wow will exist for plenty of years to come.

On the other hand they could be looking att increase the customerbase to non-gamers, as we all could se when the tv-commercials began (and ended) a few years ago. The game could turn in to something casual just for revenue.

But my hope is that we will get some more personal content in the future, especially the possibility to unlock your own class. with the exception of the warlock where I like all three specs, I only like one spec each of the other classes which makes them abit boring to build on.
I´d like to see more of a theme on my character rather than a class, for example: prot. warrior/restoration shaman/beastmaster hunter theme, get the feeling of a tribal or a clansman.

Apart from that, maybe an evil healer… that heals with blood and shadow.

A more personal touch on your character could could add some years I think.

Square Enix decision to remake the game was more because the game didn-t have success at launch, so they chose to remake it to something better, and also there wasn’t a lot of content in the game to begin with.

In wow we have more then 10 years of content, I think remaking would be asking for a bit too much.

They really need to look at their engine though…

Two or three expansions at the very least.

Nope, WoW will live on as long as it works and once it no longer does then it won’t have the means to try a WoW 2.0

Unlikely

I think the plan is to slowly overhall the game, just like they are going to revamp leveling in shadowlands.

Their salary and reputation as game designers are on the line. Dropping it off would just make their lives worse and put them & their families in a precarious situation. So why would they willingly kill it ?

As long as new blood subscribers comes with a desirable profit while a lot of veterans quits or having breaks due real life.

And there will be no WoW 2, then all the hours and effort for transmogs goes down the toilet. Not the brightest idea.
