A few months ago, my account in WoW was muted for a week. Does this stain your account forever, or after a while, does it reset? I have thought that by changing to the year 2024, I could reset my account and have it clean. Is it possible?
Good question! Any mod know?
I believe there is some form of removal of a status on an account, if you’ve not been reported for something for like 3 months or something. So you wouldn’t get a stacking silence for example.
But then again I’m just guessing. However, I doubt any mod of Blizzard employee will provide internal information in relation to the penalties that they place on accounts.
I know on the forums that penalties stack up, so if you keep reoffending in a short space of time the punishment will be longer and longer each time. Eventually you can get a perman ban but they are rare. Technically it’s actually x number of years, but in realistic terms you’re not coming back on that account.
As for an account being in good standing in general, I believe this blue post still applies:-
That doesn’t answer my question but thank you very much.
Is it likely that if I had a silence in 2023, the next one (if it existed) in 2024 would be worse?
Since Blizzard moved over to the Silence system these penalties stack. The next one after your silence is a week suspension.
Thanks for the heads up about the change
WoW… thats insaneeeee. Ty ^^
It is best to appeal if you feel the penalty was done in error.
Otherwise, don’t use the chat outside friends/guilds and play honorably in game.
I never abused the chat and received silence automatically. Is there a way to disable chat forever?
While you may be squelched initially upon receiving many reports, once a GM has confirmed that it was warranted it will turn into a week long silence for the first chat penalty tier.
You can completely enable or disable the chat through your chat settings.
To disable the chat, right click on the chat window, select Settings, and click the Disable Chat button at the bottom.
