How long to next expansion

so how long you think, if u take a educated guess?.

2024 is my guess

I heard a rumour that they want to steer away from expansions and plan smaller content releases…

i hope u trolling.

They still need to find staff to replace the ones that left. It’s going to take a while for them to get back on track.

Their other games are already affected.

I’m guessing late 2023 or like Anna says 2024.

I’d love to get it next year but… seems unlikely. But who knows they might surprise us :slightly_smiling_face:

well in that case, why not fix some issues with sl then. Like conduits, instead of increasing random lvls abit and abit, why not make atleast that one random conduit to 252, if u did farm in korthia or did torg and it droped. i swear fixing conduits on alts are a nightmare, it hinders me from doing content, and putting in effort.

im a strange guy so most ppl willl mostly mock me and say dont play wow and mmo, its all about the farm, but for me its not about the farm, its about the end game. show some mercy, playing the game is fun, playing alts is fun, but ever lasting grinds are not!.

oh i dinged in wow, lets gear up, that takes about 1-2 weeks, fine thats ok, but the conduits oh u gonna have max conduits lvl in 5 months, do u really i think i even bother, its not even about effort at this point, its just waiting and waiting and waiting. BAH

The updates so far are pretty small… again maybe a lack of staff?

How many people are keen to have this company name on their CV/Résumé at the moment… mud sticks for a while.

WoW hasn’t been my only mmo for quite some time now. It’s not a bad thing to be able to take breaks and do other things.

(which in blizzard time could be anywhere between 5 - 15 years)

im not really interested in it if im honest… its a bad sign when u are already bored of the future titles before they are even really properly annouced.

:weary:

Indeed! I’m so looking forward to D4. What we’ve seen so far looks amazing.

would much rather have a NEW blizzard franchise…

than remakes and revamps and sequels

(as long as it is on pc and not anything related to mobiles and is made purely for the players)

((lets be honest that is a tough ask of blizzard these days))

November 2022

My educated guess is that I have no idea.

We’ve had these guessing threads numerous times throughout Shadowlands. Guess when the next patch is! And the one afterward! And the expansion!

And I’ve guessed according to normal estimates. I’ve even added delays due to COVID-19.

And I’ve been completely wrong.

Even by conservative estimates I was sure we’d be close to having patch 9.2 by now.

But we’re not.

So my educated guess is that it’s impossible to have a good guess on these matters for Shadowlands.

I don’t even think Blizzard knows at this point in time.

A year at the very least (Would be the normal content schedule without the delays), but most likely at least 15~16 months. 9.0 was a 7 months tier (so about 1 months delay), 9.1 is shaping up to take at least as long (we’re currently in the 5th month) and we may as well add a 3rd month of delay for a possible 9.3 patch.

We could also have a late summer 2022 release date if 9.2 is the last patch of the expansion.

It really depends on whether we have a 9.3 & this will only be known once we see the 9.2 content on the PTR. But it’s either very late 2020 or early 2023.

Acti blizz has nearly 10k employees, yes people left on their own & others were kicked due to the harassment scandal but it’s not as if they lost half of their devs or something along those lines.

A 2024 release is honestly outlandish, the work on these xpacks is afaik started two expansions ahead of time so that artists can work on the art assets. The gameplay part is perhaps not settled yet but 10.0 is already being worked on as we speak.

To be fair getting 9.2 now would mean that 9.1 would’ve only lasted 4.5 months. That would’ve been unprecedented for a full tier afaik, even Legion only had slightly more than 5 months between content patches and that’s the steadiest content schedule we ever had.

A recent reddit post highlighted that in a few weeks we could’ve expected 5.4 to launch if we were in MoP, which would ironically start the longest content drought we ever had in WoW with a 400 day 5.4 patch (390 something to be exact)

So yeah we’re late but with 9.1 releasing the 29th of june it would’ve been really hard to get 9.2 out already.

You’re saying this in hindsight.

But at the time it felt like 9.1 was late as well. But the thinking was that Blizzard were aligning the release with New World - to compete.
And then they wanted a November release for patch 9.2 to compete with the upcoming FF expansion.

That made sense. That seemed like the kind of thinking a company interested in money would pursue.
And if there’s one thing that’s generally held true, then it is that Blizzard plans their release dates around the release dates of competing titles.

But if that was the plan, then it has obviously failed massively. We’re going into winter and gaming season and Blizzard has nothing in the pipeline.

this will never happen, they would rather release wod 2.0 with 0 content in 2023

And given the state of an all AAA companies games on release I am content for them to take time.
