i only played horde so far, and i haven’t played the last expansion.
Simple question, how long would it take to unlock this race and what would be the fastest way ?

This used to be a relatively long grind (like Dottie said, about 3 weeks), but was thankfully reduced massively in it’s requirements.
At the moment, obviously depending on your playstyle and time dedication, the entire unlock should not take longer than 5-10 hours, assuming that you have a max level character available.
The only thing you need nowadays to unlock void elves is the achievement “You Are Now Prepared!”, which gives you access to a short quest line that has the allied race at it’s end. The main thing needed for this is an ideally max level character (although I think lvl 45 is enough). The faction doesn’t matter, as you can do the achievement on Horde and will get the quest offered on an Alliance character.
There are some minor requirements to be bale to start the Argus quest line, so I took the liberty of adding in an overview of the full questchain from wowhead here too:

Amazing, thx for the comprehensive guide. Looks like a lot of work for a returning player to get a feature from the previous expansion…
Ohh well, guess i will skip this expansion to, no incentive for me to play if i have to level twice just to play the race i want…
