In Legion, many played 12 (one for each Class and Order Hall) or even more because of how beneficial it was with the Mission Table.
When Battle for Azeroth swung around, things got a little rougher and a lot of players reduced their total somewhat.
In Shadowlands, 4 or 16 seems to be the most popular number (either one for each Covenant or one for each armour type per Covenant).
So the question now remains, how many alts do you think is the right number for Dragonflight? Blizzard has stated that the expansion will be more alt-friendly, with lots of features becoming account-wide.
A few examples could be:
4 - one for every armour type.
6 - just enough to cover every Profession.
13 - one for every class to be able to play around with the new Talent Trees.
(Uknown number) - one for every new Profession Specialization.
What are your thoughts?
Personally, I will play at least my new Dracthyr Evoker, as well as my conventional Human Paladin, Night Elf Hunter, Night Elf Druid and at least one Void Elf. But I’m thinking about trying to cover each Class or each Profession.
4-16 for SL? Really? Most people seem to barely bother with 1 toon. 4 was the initial plan for many people though.
There is no right number. 2-3 characters seems to be the sweet spot if the expansion is good. I might play 3 - shaman, druid, evoker. I’ve played the most chars at once in Legion and that was 6 - pala, rogue, druid, hunter, warrior and monk I think.
Ehm… Best case scenario: Zero.
I should be able to do everything on my main without feeling I’m missing some of the experience.
Now, having said that: I do hope the leveling experience, zones and story are so awesome that I’d WANT to do it multiple times with alts. Because Shadowlands was the opposite: I’ve only leveled 1 alt and just don’t want to level any more through that expansion’s content.
I’d like to just play my feral druid, but given the state of the feral DF tree (looks as if it was thrown together in 30 seconds and is unplayable in M+), and the total silence from Blizz while more recent trees are getting updates, I don’t hold out much hope for that.
Main only. I know %100 that it will be alt unfriendly so not gonna bother one single bit. That is if i am even around to see it.
Sl alt friendly? Only toward the very end as they have done for the last 2-3 expacs when they want people to pay their bills. Up until then its a grindfest.
It is time to let all your alts have the same powers as your main. Imagine how many people would play then? Imagine all the classes people could play without sacrificing their lives to be able to do HC content or mythic. Thsi is not a job. They want you to treat it liek one though for MAUs’ sake.
I’m not going down the altoholic road ever again in WoW. I will level a few characters to max level, but i will only change mains between patches if i get bored and i won’t play any other character during that time. It’s way too much time and gold investment to play more than one at a time.
Certainly far more than now thanks to the pvp gearing changes, ofc if I play df at all. This is the first time I haven’t pre-purchased an exp even though I’m happy with what I’ve seen so far. I’m still waiting to see the talents of my main classes.
Alts are something I level and abandon, although the profession army alts will have their work cut out with the amount of work it will be to max everything and make good quality gear.
