How many players actually started playing WOW after WOTLK?

Started during Legion.

I started 29th June 2005, I only started really playing the game to the full around WotLK before then I was a filthy casual.

Started back in TBC a few weeks before WoTLK so never got to experience TBC.

Played that account upto WoD where I wanted a fresh start. Then got this account.

Debating another fresh start as it’s refreshing going through all the content again as a single character, plus I’d only have two classes max these days. My shaman and possibly a Druid or Paladin.

I started mid way through Cataclysm, then left near the start of MoP and joined again in WoD, been playing ever since xD

Wasn’t there a huge wave of new players in Cataclysm? I’ve seen a lot of people say they started playing then

Indeed, but some don’t wish to go back to what the game was really like back then either.

My nostalgia for the game is for the players that played not the actual game content…though it was amazing too at the time.

When classic comes out, it will be an awakening for many people.

not going to play it though as I played it when it was out.

Started in TBC on private servers ( I was a kid and my family couldn’t really afford a wow sub at the time ) played on them til Cataclysm and when I could I came over at the start of WoD therefore missing out on MoP which I’m really sad about. BfA is starting to kill my spirit tho to be honest so I will consider buying next expac carefully. (And will probably give in and do so anyway cause warcraft is my favourite universe by far and no matter what it always seems to draw me back in sooner or later.)

late Mists here.

I started in Cata, God I was such a noob then but it was fun.

Some of the people I currently play with, started in Cata, MoP and WoD. We tend to assume everyone was here from vanilla/TBC tho, and get surprised evertime someone says otherwise.

There was some announcement some years ago, that I think said that “100 million players have tried WoW”.

I started at the very end of TBC, barely reached 70 when WotlK hit, so technically started WotlK, remains best expansion so far, would play it any time if it came to retail again.

I started at the beginning of Cataclysm

I started playing WoW after WoD mid BRF, finished it got in legion during NH left mid ToS and returned 2 months after BFA launch so yes, a new player.

Answering to your question though, i meed endless nerds claiming that they did play since vanilla while their account has 0 achievs before pandaland or so and when you ask them why they dont have any their answer is bound: my old account was banned. I guess its a trend: BEEN PLAYING SINCE VANILLA AND VANILLA WAS SO HARD bla bla bla.

I started during WotLK, in 2009.

Oh the overall leavers should be probably around hundreds, yes. WoW has been a social phenomena afterall. We had 80 year old ladies play them in raid guilds lol.

There were chunks of interested people through the years tho, and that peaked around wotlk. After which the devs choose to progressively dismantle everything the game was.

why don’t you make an example what cata did , which made them drop subs ? Since you call it dismantle the game

Pretty sure 90% of the current playerbase did not play through Vanilla to Wrath.
