Started playing a few months before Legion launched.

Started playing a few months before Legion launched.
im curious. what drew you to start playing so late into the franchise? especially with so much “unhappyness” over the last few years.
all the “hype” (southpark, mr T adverts, numa numa, leroy jenkins etc etc etc) had all happened so long ago. does WoW even advertise anywhere anymore? (i dont have a tv, so i dont know)
I was just never really exposed to WoW other than through parodies in the likes of Southpark etc. My gf has played it since Vanilla though, and when we went to watch Warcraft at the cinema, I decided to try it out and have loved it since.
Late vanilla. But TBC was my 1st serious exp
I startet in Beta and played classic. Came back in cata and quit again. Came back pre Legion and quit. Now came back again 1week ago and it seems i do not know anything hehe.
My condolences…
Myself I started a bit before AQ, only got my separate account in Wrath, though.
I started about a couple of weeks after BFA.
Started playing 2005, after wotlk every expansion was disappointing and I’ve pretty much just been trying expansions for couple months since cata.
I started at the end of MoP. Played actively until a few months ago, now taking a break.
Started in Nov 18 but didnt begin doing BFA content until Jan/Feb
I started when WoD came out … after much persuasion from my G/F. I’m hooked, although I do understand that changes along the way mean the game doesn’t play how it used to (both ways) - still, I like it a lot, despite the odd change grumble myself.
I started via the hearhsteed promo at the end of WoD though never went beyond the level 20 requirement. I did then buy Legion on release and have almost 300 days played to this point.
I was playing wow back in vanilla but stopped playing it, i was always curious about this game.
The thing that broke the ice was Role Playing, i somehow end up watching and listening to a lot of stuff on yt about WoW lore i got to the RP videos and it hooked me in.
@Brianboru: I have been about effectively 11 years (and a few days over now), in other words started in late TBC era. As for your theory… I have not taken any major breaks (being away 2-3 days really does not count and I think the longest absence lasted about 6 days and I was still subbed during that, just not able to play
) and I know a handful of people who have been around even longer more or less continuously. Those who have taken long breaks, in some cases even 5+ years are far more numerous. Even with that said, every now and then I run into completely new people.
I started WoW at its release date in Europe. And this character is the first I made since. It’s my main since the beginning.
I started mid WoD
I started end of TBC
I started playing in vanilla and have been playing the game since than on and off, and all of this time have been playing mostly as the healer since its the role which I like to play the best. My fondest memories of the game are from the TBC expansion since I liked everything about it, the way how the progression system worked in it, the strong community on the server, and I have made a nice progress back than with my guild at that time which cleared SWP while it was the current content.
i know quite a few people who started later. they are still playing just taking a lot of breaks - but its like most of people on my real id list.
real life took its toll - most people i known in game started familes have kids now so no time for playing for extended duration
