a lot of people have been saying recently that blizz is making more from its cash shop shop now than from subs. as there were quite a few of these people i took it to be true.
however this is being called into question. can anyone confirm that this is true (with links) so that if it is not, we can correct the falsehood being thrown around atm. i will look into it myself, but others may have the info to hand.
I have nothing but speculation but I guess it also depends on how they count it as well? I’ve never had a running subscription, I always bought game time manually, if that counts as store revenue that might explain it if others do this as well
Also wow gold being able to buy gametime tokens means that people technically dont have to spend physical money either, the idea that running sub revenue is low isnt that farfetched to me
Its 100% pure speculation. There’s absolutely 0 info from blizz. They don’t release sub figures, or ingame cash shop figures in the slightest. Anythig you hear is 100% speculation.
they probably do make more money from cashshop, nothing realy odd about that, considering you can also buy stuff for other games there than just wow, meening they most likely get a lot of money from overwatch, heartstone etc. mostlikely more than from wow, becuse not everyone uses cashshop that plays wow, not that all do it for other games eighter, but for example heartstone, it is easy to get a lot of players to buy some packs, due to them not costing that much.
