How Much of a Difference (Searing Nightmare vs Misery)

I love Spriest. Probably my favourite spec to date, and then I saw that Searing Nightmare is the go-to for M+ and I genuinely cannot stand it. Anyone know how much I’ll chop my hands off for playing Misery over Searing?

I think it’s reasonably fair to say that at anything more than three targets you’re shooting yourself in the foot not using searing nightmare.

Catch all aoe rotations perform, it’s just how WoW is. Multi dotting is either too much GCD investment for not enough payoff, or it becomes absolutely monstrous in spread cleave in ways blizzard have been trying to avoid / tone down for the past few years. If we weren’t going to get the same dot power we did in BFA, we need something else.

I’d compare non-sn shadow to BFA balance druid, at least for now while we aren’t running bleeding edge keys.

EDIT: Also worth adding the extension on mind sear was deliberately to improve the gameplay of searing nightmare. Mind sear, Cast two Nightmares during the channel, then refresh sear before it runs out for a much smoother aoe loop.

If you really really need burst aoe for a very short moment, you can fit in the 3rd nightmare but it’s more damage long term to stick to 2.

Thanks for the response. That’s also sad to hear. I guess I’ll be sticking to Disc for the time being then :unamused:

Searing is clunky garbage thou. Value is miniscule. Shadow crash is where the party is at. Than s2m until 30%+ crit or something when hungering void actually gives us a extended voidform for real.

I’m sorry, what?

You need 3 global s to get one of your dots up on all targets in close proximity. It’s a cheap version of the legendary ring from legion. That basically dictated you just to follow your normal rotation and holding of on mind flay at worst.

You didnt try it yet, did you?
Propably strongest aoe.ability in the game…will get nerfed…
For op…in dungeons its masive difference.

Ofc I tried it, rather do 3-5k dps on boss fights. The longer the trash lives the better the other two tala eta as well.

? it doesnt cost you almost nothing on st dps…

Twisting fate? Also if mobs on boss misery is just better somewhat.

We are talking about dungeon bosses right?
To have twist for 10 sec or have massive dps on trash…

Yes dungeon bosses on mythic. Soon m+ who cares about normal and heroic? You can play any spec if you even get to dps at all.

Searing Nightmare is extremely good in groups. Sure it takes a little to set up, but its one of the few uncapped sources of aoe in the game. First massdotting everything with Pain, and hitting again for a big hit.

Shadow Crash good? You are kidding surely. Sure SC have a bit of burst aoe, but it quickly falls off in value once you are funneling insanity into searing nightmare to spamcast it. SN quickly going dramatically ahead in damage done over time.

In mass aoe you arent applying enough VTs to get value from the other two talents. Shadow crash does the damage of two searing nightmares (with SWP already applied) and generates insanity on its own. There is zero reason not to use it on stacked aoe. You get your insanity back to go into the next pack from Death and Madness and properly planning your insanity across pulls.
