In Cataclysm we see the Forsaken push out the Humans(Stormwind) in Cataclysm from Western Plaguelands / Andorhal.
In BFA the Undercity / Capital Ruins are destroyed after the Alliance basically take over Tirisfall Glades.
But what has actually happened from a geopolitical/military point of view? Do the Alliance basically control most of Lordaeron’s Land mass now? Or is it more 50/50? (Not including Scourge remnant controlled parts.)
Where do things stand now?
I know Blizz don’t really care, but it’s interesting to think about.
Iirc the Forsaken still hold Tirisfal Glades, but the Alliance is rebuilding Southshore and the Bloodfang Worgen control Shadowfang Keep and Fenris Island. It’s in the Exploring Azeroth book. Nothing about the Plaguelands far as I remember, probably still part Scourge/part Argents control.
You can pretty much assume that anything that isn’t commented on in other sources is supposed to still be seen as it is ingame. Blizz bent over backwards in the Exploring-books to have as little as possible changed from what you see while questing. So you should probably assume that the Forsaken still hold the unblighted parts of Tirisfal, most of Silverpine, most of Hillsbrad (sans Southshore), and Andohal.
Would be nice for Blizz to actually update all the azeroth zones and progress the story in them, maybe even dedicate a whole xpac to it instead of sending us to far away islands or other bloody dimensions and timelines…
Fenris Keep, Shadowfang Keep, Pyrewood Village and Southshore are under Alliance control.
I vaguely remember that Ambermill might be Alliance too?
Point is that the Alliance basicly controls southern Silverpine (Shadowfang Keep) and South-West Hillsbrad (Southshore) and parts of northern Silverpine (Fenris Isle).
The Forsaken retain control of mid and north Silverpine, most of Hillsbrad (except the Alterac Mountains), Tirisfal Glades and most of the WPL.
I personally go with whatever I see in game
There’s a ton of areas apparently where there’s all this conflict going on according to the mission tables but then you go to the actual zone and there’s… nothing…
If I’m forced to choose an authority I choose the actual zone over anything else, let them update areas to reflect rather then lazilly use mission tables to describe what could be perfectly good content to actually play through.
It’s easy to say that Alliance now hold Tirisfal Glades but now you actually go to any area described in them and… basically nothing to suggest anything what you read on mission tables.
