How much to pay for recrafting?

I want to switch to an entirely different spec which uses different stats, so I’d like to recraft ~6 of my crafted pieces (4 mail pieces, 2 rings, all unembellished). They are all 424 (PvP) pieces.

How much should I expect to pay for recrafting? I’ve tried whispering people in trade chat and I’m being quoted 10-15k a piece. Is that about right?

It seems alot given if I were to recraft the pieces from scratch via public orders with my mats and a 1-2k commission, it would be crafted within several seconds.

I’d throw it in public with all mats and a 500g tip. At this point in the expansion, a lot of crafters can’t get less than 4 star and often get 5 without trying.

If you get a 4 star back; send it out again for 500g. Eventually someone will accidentally proc :joy_cat:

Didn’t think you could public order recrafts.

I usually just charge people 5k+ for recrafts and public orders i just do at any price if mats are supplied.

Does that work for recrafting? Perhaps I’m doing something wrong, but I can only seem to do personal orders if I want to recraft it to a different secondary stat

If you bring all the mats, i charge 2k each, if you want me to use insights, 5k

For the crafts themselves that is, for recrafts 200g pr since im rocking full resourcefulness

Guess I’ve only done first crafts public then. So far they’ve all been good at least.

But I also ask friends for recrafts, they rarely want more than 69g…

anyone asking for 10k or more is a scammer, put them on ignore or just dont reply to them

Generally recrafting is no different from first time crafting from the crafter’s point of view. Afaik, the people asking 10-15k a pop are the “professional” crafters that just spam all day. You can ignore them and just try to fish for other crafters that are less active and as written below offer lower prices.

You might even come across people doing it free of charge that just accept tips. Generally I would find anything below 4-6k acceptable, with the best case scenario being at 1-2k.

I mostly use friends and they use me for most stuff these days but recrafts even when we didn’t have the skills ourselves we only paid 5-10k if it was a first time upgrade, and that was much earlier on.

Have you got any friends or guildies you could ask first to see if they can help you out. Most of the stuff I do for friends, they provide all mats and I get tipped 69g for the memes.

Everyone that I know are all scattered across different servers, and being primarily PvPers, I would assume very few are crafters sadly.

I managed to find someone to change the item level for 8k a piece, which seems a lot for a measly 424 item level piece, but after a while advertising in the lightning-fast Draenor trade chat, I simply wasn’t getting any better offers.

(Also, how anyone can read Trade chat I’ve no idea… There’s like 5+ advertisement messages every second!)

Just something to bear in mind with public recraft, if you stick in a joke tip and do not supply quality mats, many will deliberatly recraft it to a lower quality by using the optional extras to make it harder to craft.

Many are seriously fed up with scammers trying to get them to craft stuff for free or at a negative cost due to the mats not being sent over as well.
