I have just go though Reddit banwaves there plenty screenshots of players that have been banned for buying gold I don’t think it was a permanent ban right enough maybe it was a small amount or a first time offender
We all know players, people, chose the path of less resistance. Specially when Blizzard themselfs seem not to care at all and have allowed bots to pump in gold into the economy since Day 1 (with more or less no goldsink).
These days, looking at some sites, 3000 gold is sold for 50 euro.
That means if you farm 70g/hour it would take you 42 hours, almost 2 days of constant farming, to reach that gold (which due to inflation throught bots is less worth for every second).
Added: I would also like to add that things like Dreamfoil, items which value raises as inflations hits, are almost impossible to get a hand on due to bots. 1 hour in Azshara and Un Goro resulted in 3 nods for me last time I tried . So farms in dungeons are more or less the option we have, which Blizzard nerfed for “normal” people.
Now do a fast calculation and see how many hours you would have to work to earn 50 euro. Not hard to see why things are the way they are in Blizzards absense. Or put it the other way around, how much would you earn if you worked for 42 hours …
Hopefully it will be less of a market for this in TBC, seeing its harder to get monopoly at the same time as consumbles are somewhat limited. Most things will be farmable within a reasonable amount of time, making bots less valuable.
You know, I’ve been on the fence due to fearing my acc being permanently closed, but this thread damn near convinced me to go for it.
Ohh man, posts like yours makes me laugh.
You are so wrong on so many levels.
The gold nugget is the “nerfed for normal people”.
Who is that “normal” that farms for 6 hours every day?
What’s a “normal people”. Those who farm 12 hours a day? What are you talking about?
The cherry is the “dreamfoil”. So by your logic if bots are flooding the market with dreamfoil the prices goes up. Because that’s what bots are farming. There aren’t any Gold mines in the game to farm, and the raw gold bots are making is insignificant comapred to mats.
You are trying to complain, but you don’t know exactly why.
No, that conclusion just shows your limitation in using your brain.
By pumping in gold into the system generated from bots, e.g from BRD infinite pickpocket runs, gold loses value each day, each month. Inflation. That means a “pure” gold farm, like ZF GY is less worth now in every way than 1 year ago.
As Dreamfoil is a part of most big Flasks and Elixirs, the value or rather importance is self explained . With Naxramas out, people are burning consumbles like never before.
If I wanted to FARM my way to new comsumbles, seeing it should be faster than pure gold runs for explained reason, it would have been a good idea - had not the same bots doing BRD runs, Lotus farm and Rightous Orb etc also been a part of the Dreamfoil herbing aswell. This means that the player not only get f’ed by the increased cost on acution house, but the ability to farm (or earn gold throught) farming the herbs for himself. As a way to work around that, people could farm some herbs inside dungeons, freed from bots, but with a limit set by Blizzard, logging in 5-10 min every hour - adding up to about 1 hour over 6 hours of lockouts (not playing 12 hours straight, only a fool would think that is how a dungeon farm is done) to do that would get players locked out - a design created to prevent bots but that in more than one way became a limitation for players, even when trying to adapt to a bot meta.
So with all this, is it a supprise that some players chose to buy gold?
Im sorry I had to spell it out for you to undestand, next time Ill make a pretty picture in Paint so you figure it put without support.
Get the hate of your chest next time before you read, and you might acually get a point or two =)
The only cherry here is you not reading and understanding what is written and jumping to your own conclusions, yet holding a frustration that you feel like venting on a forum by writing crap based on things that only you interpreted. Fight whatever caused you to become a whiny little b!itch, not random people ^^
A lot of ppl buy gold. Places where you can farm gold is being camped by gold sellers who has 10+++ accounts on both horde and ally. Areas are also overfarmed cause it’s too many ppl on each server. It’s a poop show…
After you write something you read it? Try doing it out loud.
At least three people in my raiding guild are open about buying gold. The people that used to play vanilla at a younger age now have kids and jobs and can’t find the time to keep up with the consumable meta. It’s annoying as hell, but I’ve to be honest and admit that we can’t miss them on raids and I won’t farm the consumables for them. So I just accept it for what it is.
I agree with you and I also like the point you make here.
This isn’t any longer the game or the time when the large part of players where broke or no life kids. Now Classic is played by many people with jobs, families and responsibilities. Although gold buying was a thing back in the day too.
Gold buying was something to be expected.
And it happened from the very first day the game was released.
The fun part is that at the beginning when everyone was leveling up and you would see a lvl 40 with full blues and epics there wasn’t any problems with the gold being bought, noo.
Now we see 100 threads about “gold buying” because a few are making crazy bids to make an impression.
I find it more absurd for a lvl40 that played 1 week to have 1k compared to 200k of a 60 who might have played for 1.5 years, that also might’ve teamed with others for the headline.
Most people here that screams about gold buying are just finding out about this apparently and are in the need of attention.
The rest of us “puzzled” this out a long time ago and we managed to live with it. So suck it up. Filling the forum with a 10y old’s rage won’t solve anything now, it’s too late.
Apart from the hate that someone is farming the same gold as you in 5 minutes compared to your x hours you can still enjoy the game.
Gold buying and RMT sucks, but depending on when you left this just won’t impact you much.
If you’re starting fresh, then there is no way you will be impacted by naxx progress consumable costs, and honestly if you are MC geared and returning it will probably be quite some time before you are able to contribute to a naxx raid as well.
It’s a big problem, but it’s impact on the population is less than people make it out to be.
When anyone asks a question like this, I always implore them to just do a quick thought experiment:
If you had no access to outrage machines like the forums/reddit/youtube/twitter, and just rolled a character and played the game the way you wanted to play it, how badly would these things truly affect you, would you even be aware of these problems? If yes, would they be anything more than a minor inconvenience?
The people making mountains of this are doing so because they’ve been told to by people who have been making, “Is classic wow doomed???” since before it’s launched.
In Mandokir EU a lot of people are buying gold (1.000g for 12€ or something like that) and there’s total impunity. No one gets banned, prices in the AH are f-cked up and the bots continue to wreak havoc.
In what way?
From what server perspective are you refering from/to?
What should the prices be at and compared to ?
I would say widespread. Blame the lack of courage from blizz to do some serious banning against gold byers. They are the root of the problem.
But once you can do 15/15 reliably, the cost falls to like zero. Last week, I used 4 Mongoose (and all the other cheaper stuff) to clear Naxx.
So like I said, you need a few epic mounts worth of money to progress Naxx, and then farming is cheap.
