How the community made follower dungeons great :)

I want to show appriciation for a feature I never expected to actually like. I was not super excited for follower dungeons, but looking at how people do dungeons these days they became actually necessary.

I leveled a lot with Timewalking and did a bunch of normal runs with people in WTT. 80% of the time its a tank that pull all the trash up to the first boss and everyone just kills everything. There is no way you can understand what actually goes on. You are just there for the ride. Some times its also a mess with a tank too confident pulling a lot of things and a dps who queued as healer and everybody dies and people keep running in over and over mindlessly and the trash takes 5 minutes to reset.

Howeverā€¦

ā€¦with follower dungeons I can pull one pack at a time, I can see all the abilities the mobs are doing. I can stop whenever I want and read in the journal about the bosses and get a deeper understanding of the dungeon. I also get to see the entire thing if I want to. I think its great!

I never would imagine I would ever enjoy a dungeon just because I can play my class against mobs that do interesting stuff and I need to respond to what they specifically doing, without chasing a reward. I am doing the dungeons because I like doing the dungeons now.

So the last and most important thing is that I think its great with follower dungeons, and if people did them a lot more, people would have a lot more success in Mythic + imo.

Also I want to see followers for everything now, Timewalking Dungeons, Heroic, Mythic 0 and even raids

PS: I also think its a bit sad that the largest obstacle for me to enjoy a game is other people who just mindlessly run through everything like its Diablo on supereasy mode.

PS 2: I think any content you can do with other people should be tuned so you just cant kill everything in one huge aoe fest like you can in TW and normal dungeons. And to some extent also in Heroic.

It exists so you can do them at your own pace primarily to absorb the lore and RPā€¦ reason why they donā€™t reward gear, just like story mode for recent raids.

So donā€™t get your hopes up thinking theyā€™ll expand it into M0ā€¦

They reward gear at the same rate as normal dungeons, 20% chance drop for each player on the boss, same ilvl as well.

Have you considered trying Delves? Is another feature that allows you to gear up progressively, which awards vault reward and increases your ilvl gradually by obtaining champion / hero type gear, which you can also use the catalyst console to obtain both tier set & raid class transmog.

Itā€™s a shame that the new dungeon (Operation: Floodgate) is heroic and up only, i want to see the place (And it probably has lore significance), but i really donā€™t want to deal with other people and the ā€œSpeedrun this place in 5 minutes! Gogogogogo!!!ā€-attitudeā€¦

Yes I do delves all the time. And I am fully aware what they. I have played the game every day since 2005  This is just a new account.

Iā€™m in the same situation, Iā€™m glad I can finally opt out of group content as itā€™s proven to be a dreadful experience for me, 90% of the times. Itā€™s not worth it anymore now that we have other options!

I totally agree with your sentiment

I totally agree with your sentiment. I actually didnā€™t know that the new dungeon doesnt have follower mode.

I feel exactly the same as you.

Bit of a paradaox eh.
MMO game and some people avoid others like the plague. Its like being relieved of not needing to shoot at peopleā€¦ in a shooter game.

We require heroic follow dungeons. Letā€™s truly make this single player. (Add loot drops)

Also, follower raids. Good luck programming the AI.

Well why not? In dungeons they perform a lot better then what I see in many pug groups with real people.

I can tank as a noob and nobody complains, follower dungeons are great.

I agree.
Iā€™ve been playing WoW since 2006.
I am now an 58 year old player and usually quit playing for a while, due to quests ending up in dungeons needed for progress in the quest line. As these dungeon ā€˜runsā€™ always ended up in speedruns, I wasnā€™t able to keep up.
Follower dungeons are the reason that I am back. They remind me of how dungeons used the be with friends or friendly players, explaining the routine and pulling group for group.
I really hope they keep them updated and we will be able to at least run these dungeons that are needed for quests, with follower dungeons.
Or maybe we need a new kind of guild that loves to take the time in game, as they want to experience the whole.
For now: I love follower dungeons, it gives me time to understand what is happening and I feel the same as Vizzka.

Any content designed to be failable and where communication / coordination is part of the difficulty cannot be run with AI and retain appropriate difficulty for the rewards it offers.

I know, but it once had a meaning and was fun. Now playing with other random people is nothing more than a nightmare. Maybe one day it will be back to being fun, so I will do it again!

We donā€™t need heroic follower dungeons, with Delves in the game, 5-man heroics are a completely moot point, what i would like is the new dungeon in follower mode.

As for raiding with AI: Story mode says ā€œhiā€, in general, leave the higher difficulties for players who enjoy it, but let old codgers like me enjoy the content at a more sedate pace with AI followers.

Honestly I feel the follower dungeons are too easy, or the followers are too strong. They just plow through everything, and thier off heals are way too strong.

Not really. People donā€™t avoid just ā€œother playersā€, but rather the toxic ones. You would do the same in a shooter game.
