Starting at 2k mmr, my typical warrior arena is against hunter+healer and unless the hunter is seriously braindead, I cant reach any target whatsoever. Every gap closer or stormbolt I use they have something to stop me (multiple roots, stuns,jumps,vortex etc) and I just waddle around good as well as being afk. Not even talking about survival hunters, who sometimes manage to keep me perma cced in their undispellable cc, which is kinda hilarious (root, root,stun,trap, few secs gap, when they fd or jump away and repeat).
I cant stop their dmg, disarm doesnt work on bm, cant interrupt the dmg, cc is pointless since their pets do more dmg anyway, when I get on them, do my setup, they fd, remove everything and run away with freedom/speed and Im back at the afking part.
So what do you guys do since 70%+ of 2s are hunter + healer?
Going venthyr helps a lot.
Use fear+stun on hunter when your healer is cc’ed. Try to make a pattern with your healer. One go he trinkets, one go you fear+stun, one go you parry/shout, etc. Be careful not to waste your cc. Sometimes it will be worth to use stun on hunter during freedom however.
If its clear you wont connect on him for a while, try los and kill his pet. Be patient and let him chase you around pillars. Make sure you always hit the pet while waddling out in the open. Pressure on pet is crucial. Your healer can also help with uptime through intervene and cc, depending on what class you’re playing with. Make sure you never waste gap closers when they already have freedom up.
Helpful macro - will target their main pet, or a podtender if there is one:
/target arenapet1
/target arenapet2
/target arenapet3
/target regenerating
Thanks for the answer. I pretty much do what you mentioned about rotating def on traps and stuff. I dont die, I eventually just lose to the sheer fact he does dmg full time and I do not. I swap to anything I can connect to, like healer or pet (alway hitting it while waddling to him), but if hunter isnt completely stupid, he just calls his pet back anyway.
I was thinking about my healer helping me with some roots,slows or clones when they escape, but since I rely on lfg, I cant explain everything mid game by typing, so its hard to get anything done at all. At this low rating, my healers just mash 3 healing buttons and call it a day:X Having somebody with actual active thinking, like feral affinity druid, who always restealths and stun him for free, shaman rooting, priest giving me speed or grabs or keep the healer cced properly would help tremendously, but I have to work with what I get, which means Im on my own there. It makes me go crazy.
But I will definitelly look more closely on their freedom cd and possibly using stun for it in hope my healer can at least handle the enemy healer.
Haven´t done arenas in a while, but normally I would hope the guy was incredibly bad, although even incredibly bad hunters do well due to how OP the class is and hoped for the best, when it was a good one, I just prayed for the next match to not be against another one and kinda afk´ed xD
Heh, yea, thats my current state tbh, but since 2s are like 70%+ hunter druid/hunter rshaman, Im starting to hate it, but getting legit 3s team is ridiculously hard too, since its all lfg experience :X
I rly hope that hunters get some love next patch, because they kinda ruin the experience for everyone. Not just arena, but even every single bg has like 3-5 opposite hunters. You attack one and get another 2+ aimed shot combos from the back. That class has insane dmg, low skill ceiling and way too big toolkit on top of that. Strategem lege is just a joke…
If kiting is the main prob, maybe try legend boots with 3 leaps…?
Im not at 2k yet but Hunters i use death sentence and banner against and mostly works great against them
Im playing as necro ,so might also be that i can’t be slowed during CQ banner ,helps alot against them
Death sentence i use as a extra charge , sudden death buff lasts for a while so i just save it to connect if they should run from me or for extra dmg when im on them ofc.
