How to cope with permanent gearing hamsterwheel

I just realized my RAID gear is worse than green drops I get from world mobs, after “Season 2” begins.
This is so demotivating to have to re-gear again to a level when I just dont care and dont want to do it.

Most gear i got in the mine was like 597. Some exceptional piece was ~610. What did you raid?

don’t care about the ilvl of the loots until you start raiding again and try to motivate yourself by stuff other than gear because WoW can be pretty annoying with seasonal system when you put your aim at getting higher ilvl.
try to motivate yourself with achievements transmogs or ranking etc. instead

Even in non mmorpgs u replace your gear overtime.

Its a basic element of rpgs.

Stop caring about your gear, it’s as easy as that. Gear is a mean to an end, whether it’s to do raids or m+ or delves, or to solo an elite or old boss you previously couldn’t.

Getting gear just because it exists will generally make you burned out and hate the game.

This sadly. We are not anymore in Classic. You play because you enjoy to do the content or you decide WoW is not anymore for you. The reason I play now today mainly Retail only for the sake of Roleplay and else Classic WoW.

Are you saying that you have an item level of 597 from raiding after a six-month-long season?

Because if that’s true, that’s on you the game gave you six months and plenty of ways to get high item-level gear.

I’m rocking 636 and 622+ on my alts.

Not a single item I’ve dropped in the new Undermine zone has been beneficial to me.

I started only like 2 month ago.

We dont in ESO and FFXIV.

After delves tier 8 opened, before M+ even got released, we were already 605-610 ilvl.
My paladin i started the week before christmas and is now 632 without mythic raiding. When you are, after 2 months, below 600 ilvl, i have no words.

Maybe they just use LFR ? Not sure what item level that is because I don’t raid

I raided only raid available so far, Nerub-Ar Palace.
I raid with 5 tanks (excluding DH) and 4 healers (holy pala and priest, resto shaman and druid) and 3 (frost mage, beast hunter, and sub rogue).

That raid drops 623 ilvl upgradable to 639.

You do replace your gear in FFXIV though, not the entire arsenal, but pieces of it with each patch.

There is no hard defined raid gear, there is

  • Explorer gear
  • Adventurer gear
  • Veteran gear
  • Champion gear
  • Hero gear
  • Myth gear

You can get veteran to myth from raids depending on the difficulty you choose I am pretty certain and there’s a really big gap.

If your gear from raiding is unupgraded veteran gear then yeah the new seasons quest gear is going to be stronger then your raid gear.

The real question is, what do you mean with raid gear? cause that’s still 4 out of 6 total possible power levels in the new gearing system as explained above.

Personally I am at fully upgraded champion gear (normal difficulty raid bosses fully upgraded (I got it from delves tho)) and my gear is well above the quest rewards in ilvl

As others have pointed out, the best option is not to care at all, as long as you’re good enough to do the content you’re doing and have a path for growth try growing into the content you want to do (harder difficulty maybe), but don’t try to sweat the numbers, only try to focus on wether numbers go up or down

Well seems like you are either capable of doing Mythic Raids or playing a lot of Mythic Plus as 636 is the second last limit for Mythic Raid Gear. Because for Heroic Raids and Delves 626 is the limit.

But I kinda agree 597 for Raiding is LfR so either OP is a really bad play with social phobia so that both Delves, M0 and Normal Raids are not available Content or OP had no idea where good gear is from

Stop seeing it as something you have to do as quickly as possible.

Gearing is part of the journey, and the journey is meant to be enjoyed.

No offense intended, i’m honestly curious: Are you new to WoW?

Character progression at level cap is pretty much entirely gear-based, so you’ll be replacing equipment with new items pretty much every season, this has been the case since… well, pretty much the outset of the game…

Cant comment on ESO but on FFXIV?
We are playing the same FFXIV right? We replace gear very often. Starting with 700 ilevel stuff at the start of dawntrail with 710 weekly capped normal raid tier to the current patch 720 ilevel alliance raid and augmented crafted stuff. Also the augmented caped tomestone gear where you can use a coin from the alliance raid to get 730 gear.
I am aware that there is even higher level gear in savage and extremes(also that chaotic raid) but I play FFXIV on a pure “casual/LFR” mode. Dont have the time and energy to “go semi-hardcore” on two MMORPGs.

P.s I am bad with FFXIV names so dont remember those tomestone names and etc.

He could go play solo Delves T8 and collect free 603 gear at the end of the Bountiful Delve, then upgrade it to 619. The Vault would give him 616 Hero Track gear.

That’s how I did it with my alts.

You’re asking where I get keys for those? It’s easy. I just did the weekly on my alts and got 4 keys for 4 Delves, then I used Radiant Echo to farm a key so I could go again the next day.

Solo players have an easy route to semi-decent gear, but they are unable to use it.

BTW i didn’t do it for the gear i literally did farm those keys and all that just because i want The Key to Madness achiev
for opening 500 coffers with keys
So the gear was just a nice side reward for me…
But i guess i’m too much World of warcraft player to have problem with simple things in this game.

U absolutely do replace gear in FFXIV after each tier drop, just like in WoW. Why are you lying?
