[How to] Creating a WoW Community?

So I wanted to get an Alliance alt into my guild but it can’t find it in search. A brief search resulted in me finding that I need to create a WoW community.

So I go to create one, put in a name and a short name but I can’t click on create as it says both names are too short.

Name seems to have a max character limit of 50 and regardless of how many characters I use, I still get this error.

Short name seems to have a max character limit of 6 and regardless of how many characters I use, I still get this error.

Has anyone come across this before and if so, how do I fix it?

Why can’t anything just work as normal???

First

You have a guild so you DON’T want to make a Wow community.

Because you have to let your gm in the guild click on a “Recruitment” button (you find it in the guild interface) to make a recruitment post. Otherwise the guildname won’t show in any search. Check what language it is, and other preferences you want and remember those because you will need some of them in your search on your alt.

Once you’ve created the Recruitment post you log to your alt and start lookingfor your guild again in search. Once found, your alt have to apply for membership and when that’s done you log back into your gm of the guild and look in the guild interface again under “Applications” and find your alt’s application. Confirm the invite and you should now be able to log back into your alt and confirm the guildinvite from the guild interface.

But, unless I’m missing something obvious, it still doesn’t work. All my non guilded alliance characters can find my guild, but none of my non guilded horde characters. I’ve made and remade the recruit post over the last few months but it still can’t be found by horde.

wow community really that is a ship that sailed away long ago and its a one way trip.

I ended up finding the solution. Check this YouTube video.

P.s. It is a very confusing process for something that should be simple, but Blizzard being Blizzard…

Thank you so much, Sowee.
I’d got as far as creating the community and my horde joining it before, but had then got completely lost.
It’s still a complete faff, but I now have my main horde in my guild

Ok, the post below was supposed to show her in my guild but I guess Blizz being Blizz it’ll take a while to appear (another alt changed her mog 2 days ago and it’s still not appearing).

Anyway, she’s on the guild roster and that’s what matters.

And, just to prove it, here she is in my guild. With a lot of levelling to do
I stopped levelling her when I couldn’t get her in the guild.
