How to enable "slow" quest text?

Hi,

At some point in the past, who knows how many years it was, I think I enabled that quest text displays instantly, but now I cannot find how to revert it.

I decided I want/need to slow the pace of my life a bit, which translates to reading quests in wow as well, with that nice animation that quest slowly unveils.

Can anyone tell how to do it?

Surprisingly, quick google search didn’t provide the answer and I went through all options via inagme menu, but I failed to locate it.

I can’t help you, but I had it when I started classic, and I found it to be too slow. I read much quicker than the text appear. The setting is deffo there on classic, but I am not sure about retail.

looked through all the options and scrolling quest text seems to not be a thing in retail anymore, only classic.

however, i think i found an addon for it:

maybe you can give it a try and see if it works for you.

if you want an even better mod in my opinion there is one where it uses the talking head fram and has 1/X pages of text that you flip through and then flip to accept quest at the end.

i personally really like that mod

According to Wowpedia https://wow.gamepedia.com/Console_variables there is a console variable you can set for this, but only in Classic: InstantQuestText

Weird, that means they scrapped that feature for retail? Why? I mean, it’s nice feature after all, why remove it alltogether?

Like many, MANY other options (get Advanced Interface Options addon to see just how many) this was likely “not used enough” option, because questing now serves only as a part of grind, something that you want done yesterday so you can finish it already and forget it. Thus, anything that slows you down is bad option, like RP cutscenes, slow-appearing quest text, etc. In Classic you could spend another 10 seconds reading what to do and why - you didn’t have 3 hrs long bucket list of grinds to do. And you probably didn’t do this quest over 9000 times already on all chars in your alt army.

As a very fast reader I don’t really care about it - it doesn’t really affect mechanical gameplay and doesn’t cross my sensibilities - but if you really want it, use the addon people above linked.
