Otherwise when my friends quit and I wanted to push I started to add more people from pugs into my fl and over the time had lots of people to play with.

Just because somebody played good doesnt mean he is friendworthy. If the run wouldnt have been timed he couldve shown as a narcisstic person that flames a lot.
Making friends over successful keys is not a good strategy to find good players. The parameters why exactly this key was good dont have to be dependent on the 1 or 2 people u choose from your PoV of who was âgoodâ.
Dont make random friends with randoms because these are not necessarily people u want to befriend with.
On the other hand, grouping up with friends, just because they are friends is also no solution because most people, are not good enough to be on top end.
You have to see where u are, and when u urself are in the 0.0001% of great videoplayers then you have a harder time finding people that are fitting with you and even harder, when reflecting what was said above, finding ones with a similar healthy and intelligent attitude towards much more than just the m+ run itself, to make it ultimately overall successful.
Not even the best guilds in this world can build around these 0.0001% of players, if these people even would want to join such a âlower-skilledâ community.
That is also why 1v1 games are way more skillbased. The highest skilled person can show off without restrictions from âfriendsâ.
Imagine somebody like Serral would join the best WoW guild. Mechanics would never fail. Everything, because it is just PvE, would just have a fixed process, the most optimised one. Everything in strategy would be overhauled, from stopping to call anything with words and instead use shorter referrings, that use less time. Voicechat wouldnt even be needed tbh. Boss would always be firstkill, depending on the mathematical limitations. Not even needed to practice PTR, just do the theory, and imagine the fight step by step.
There is such a skillgap both mechanically and mentally between people, you cant just make âfriendsâ

Tbh the two strategies I know to make friends if you want to push is to run a lot of keys, even low keys and queue; I found my old âpremadeâ that way.
Or find a decent guild, meet people there and fill your bnet with the players you think are good and you get along and run M+.
Other than that people usually donât stay for another key cause they might donât like your performance, healer or tank, they might think thatâs enough for the day or they got a key they cba.
Back in SL I tried Discord communities and rIO/wowprog recruitment and didnât work so for me thatâs not really a solution to count on.
And just because you might have poor character judgement doesnât mean the advice wasnât sound. No one here suggests you should add the first 
that merely knows where his buttons are. You add people that are kind and composite, have positive vibes, nice to have around, and play well â nothing less.
These people are rare, but, hey, this is exactly the reason why you should be befriending them. If they were everywhere, there wouldnât be any reason for deliberate social networking at all, right?

So you made that mistake with your first character. Leveled him up to 70.
Then did the exact same with 10 other alts, did some content with them.
And only AFTER all that you figured out that the server was Hungarian? What happened?
Canât you just install a million addons so you automatically become a god and can solo keys?
i agree with what you wrote to op but i also add people from games formed from lfg cause how otherwise i could ever find people so i can stop playing lfg eventually. i guess it depends on the purposes of friending people, my current purpose is find people to play arenas with and not to find mates to go sailing across baltic and the like, i dont know anyone that wouldnt play with cause the purpose is to play the game after all
