Solution:
Players can only have max. 500 gold per account. If they loot more, it just vanishes.
If you have to save for something bigger (like the epic mount), you buy “mount coins” (call them whatever you like". E.g. one “mount coin” cost 100 gold and is soulbound. To buy an epic mount, you need ten of those.
Wouldn´t that fix like… everything?
-Gold sellers cannot gather thousands of gold and gold selling will be much slower.
-“Streamers” can only have so much gold, 500 gold will always be in relation to the gold of a “normal” player.
Of course, the amount of max. gold has to be in balance with the costs in the game (repair, flying, vendor materials etc.).
I mean, players can store value in materials, like mithril bars or something, but there is also a natural limit per account (bag and bank space).
First: Bots can and will still be active 24/7 around the clock to hit the limits, through materials as you’ve said.
Furthermore, because there is a balance cap players will hoard their wealth into items. Literally it becomes a barter economy instead of an AH one because you cannot sell items anymore or very little because of having a balance cap. Trade chat would blow up with ads with “My 99 copper bars for your x items”
Heck maybe we’ll even get bank vouchers like Runescape in here.
What prevent botters to sold their gold before they are capped ?
After the GDKP ban, another communist behavior ?
You still didn’t learned the lesson ? All of theses ain’t gonna work. Let people play like they want. If I want to non-stop goldfarm untill my brain explode, I will do it, no matter how much “limit” you put we’ll always find “something” to break it.
Also, learn your economy. Getting a tons of golds in your bag is useless, what matter is the assets that you can resell later at higher price thanks to inflation.
I made almost 5K golds sitting in front of auction house in Phase 2, while not playing that much. It’s not hard, just use your brain and your knowledge. The thing is, the more time you spend on this, less time you actually PLAY the game so it’s up to you - of course if you are spamming Warsong with full consumables you ain’t gonna be rich, you can’t have the cake and eat it.
For example in P1, almost nobody knew the existence of Nimar cloak inside Arathi. I made almost 1k golds just by killing this rare over and over each 8 hours and sold all the cloak in P2. There was almost no competition outside of 3/4 others players on the most populated EU server.
Another god farm ? In Phase 1 you reroll Hunter and you kill elemental - if you play Horde - inside Arathi for the Warrior quest in Phase 2.
Another god farm ? In Phase 1, go into RFK and bash mobs untill you drop Mantles of Thieves and enjoy your 350g (at worst you’ll get others blue/green and they were still valuable).
Another god farm ? Just do all the quests ingame once you are max level and do the same things on your alt once you are bored, while doing world PvP. You’ll get a tons of golds.
Another god farm ? Spamming Uldaman as Hunter in phase 2, some people got almost 5k golds just doing this.
Use your brain. Think about what people gonna buy now and later. That’s how you become rich. But who care tbh, it’s a game after all and golds in SoD are meaningless since they banned GDKP. It’s only for BoE, consumables, and shorcutting for the lazy.
