How to fix the feral problem

for the last time I’m giving the devs a tip of how to fix feral ! I know its a long shot but I will give you guys this guide however I belive you guys still gonna stick to your mind and make the spec even more laughable but still !

1st and the most important change ! = Deleteeeeeeeeeeeeeeee blood talons take it away remove it ! rework it ! why why ? why ? why do we have to heal in the middle of fight in order to do dmg ? how that make sense ?? not only its boring but its incredibly stupid look ! I like ok I like the idea to be able to manage your blood talon proc in order to do more dmg I know I get it ok I get it makes the spec more skill base but this is boring its borrrrrrrrrrrrring to heal ! combine it with moonfire or something that does dmg not heal ! feral druid is a dps spec its not a dps hybrid healer !!! jesus …

2nd change ! = change tier 90 row ! why do we have 3 aoe options in one of our most important talent rows ! what if the fight is single target ??? why ! go search other class talent rows if you could find a single spec that has 3 aoe options in 1 talent row I will delete my life !!! change it change it with sabertooth or something like that why do we have 3 aoe options in 1 row ??? does this make any sense to anyone ? it dosnt to me !

3rd change = give us dual talent ring option just like legion ! we need to have soul of the forest and incarnation to gether ! one of the biggest reasons that feral does no dmg at all is that ! we need those 2 talents combined they cant be in the same row in legion before you get the dual ring feral was extremely underdog cause you needed those 2 talents combined berserk alone is not good enough ! it dosnt do any dmg it just reduces the cost of spells which is not a big deal rly it dosnt help your burst at all and if you go incarn you don’t have juice for the rest of the fight !!! give us some option to take those 2 talents to gether

4rd change = either buff brutal slash or rework primal wrath ! the idea of bringing a new aoe ability was ok but the new ability was garbage ! you don’t spend your energy and combo point to get a rip on all targets which dosnt do any dmg at all ! first of all its not spike dmg so even if you buff it they wont consider a feral for m+ second of all its not good for raids cause in raids multi target fights are usually pretty spread and stack fights are not relie on damage persecond abilities they rly on spike huge aoe dmg such as : bladestorm/bts/fan of knifes and/cataclysm and …

yea guys this is the guide you need how ever I know in next patch you will destroy feral to an even more laughable level but anyway I did my part as a feral druid player …

Have you ever taken a look into Arms Warriors? They got cleave (which does not do anything useful unless you hit 3 targets), Warbreaker (which makes your singletarget Colossussmash an AoE and is the go to reason because everything else is worthless in this row) and Collateral Damage (which refunds 20% rage if you cleave stuff with sweeping strikes) on the same row.

Atleast if you pick Brutal Slash it does more single target dps per global and costs less energy then shred (unless you stack “Wild Fleshrending” Azerite pieces.)

No thanks, I like being able to instant cast heal once in a while. Rather than remove it, improve it. Make it heal the target’s target as well. (A small amount of passive tank healing could be part of our utility.) In Mists/WoD I used to do this with a target’s target macro and the Dream of Cenarius talent.

I disagree. Having a the option between cleave or mass AoE is fine, but when you start putting ST talents on the same row you need to juggle talents on every encounter.

Why not just make Incarnation baseline? Berserk is the worst 3 min CD in the game. Thinking of that talent row, I think they should buff savage roar so the best DPS talent is the one that adds complexity otherwise nobody ever uses it.

Finally something I agree with! Brutal Slash was fun in 7.3 because it hit hard enough that we had good burst AoE. Primal Wrath would be a great option for sustained AoE if it had more of an initial hit per combo point so that it’s always worth casting at 5cp. I don’t know why Primal Wrath has to be a separate spell from Rip? If they buffed BRS and re-worked Primal Wrath so that it replaced Rip in single target then you’d have a meaning decision between burst or sustained AoE and no additional spells to keybind. In m+ the talent you choose would depend on the level of key and if it’s Fortified or Tyrannical. In raids the talent you choose would depend on if there was short living adds, council fights or points when you shouldn’t AoE due to mechanics. Much more meaningful decision making than the current BRS = ST, PW = AoE, SoB = lol.

You can instant cast heal once in a while without bloodtalons. Bloodtalons add nothing to our healing toolkit. It only dictate when to use your heal.

Yes, but without bloodtalons people just wouldn’t bother using the self-heal in PVE. Think back to 7.3, did you ever use the instant self heal in PVE when running with the ST/Inc/MoC build?

The point I’m trying to make is that just because the OP doesn’t like Bloodtalons doesn’t mean it should be deleted. The talent encourages a more engaging playstyle in my opinion. It also feels good when you’re out doing WQ and need to heal yourself… knowing that your next 2 spells will be buffed feels good in those situations.

I’ve played Feral since TBC. In Legion Bloodtalons was forced into PvP in Legion (HotW and Claws of Shirvallah was BiS in MoP and WoD respectively). And I’ve never seen worse Feral PvP gameplay than BfA and Legion - and a lot of that comes down to Bloodtalons being BiS for low target scenarios, in particular ST.

Bloodtalons has no place in PvP. In PvP I want to use my root/heal when I feel like it benefits my team, not when it suits my damage rotation and is completely useless from any other perspective. It’s so bad that you even skip clutch roots/heal situations because you know you’ll lose too much damage to the point that it’s not worth it.

Additionally, it’s extremely clunky. When I’m at 5CPs I want to use my finisher - not a random GCD to boost my rip/fb damage.

Furthermore PS is extremely vulnerable to purge and having to hold it until you’ve gathered 4/5 CPs is essentially impossible against good teams, at the very least it is extremely frustrating and again, clunky.

If Bloodtalons was taken off of the GCD and removed from PS completely it wouldn’t be a problem at all. However, Feral was completely fine and a bleed/dot-oriented spec in both WotLK and Cata (i.e. not a DD-spec) previously and Bloodtalons is clearly a massive issue.

IMO:

  • Sabertooth needs to be re-worked: Make it so that if FB is used at <30% of target hp it renews the duration of Rip. Something that automates Rip usage shouldn’t exist at all, and it most certainly shouldn’t be competing for BiS.
  • Lunar Inspiration should be removed: Feral is a melee spec and as such shouldn’t do damage / CP generation from ranged (especially not CP generation), far too many melees have received ranged damage options and it’s hurting the game. Replace it with the old Blood Scent talent.
  • Bloodtalons should be replaced: Explained above. Replace with a a 2x charges 8sec CD off-GCD ability that grants 1x Bloodtalons buff on use.
  • Feral Frenzy should be baselined: Replace the talent with something that causes Feral bleeds to snapshot on all buffs (procs etc) again.
  • Scent of Blood should be replaced: Replace it with a solid ST option for ST fights (and PvP). A talent which passively increases the effect of attacks and bleeds significantly (like 15%) when bleeds are applied only to a single target would be great and make it so that you can choose if you want to play a ST-comp or a split-bleed comp. Prior to WoD Ferals were an ST bleed spec, that needs to make its way back into the spec again as an option somehow.
  • Savage Roar should be baselined: Savage Roar should be baseline (with built-in MoP usable at 0 CPs behaviour), also bleeds should snapshot of SR. It should be replaced with Force of Nature from MoP (Rake & Root version) in the talent tree.

Other things not related to “how to fix our DPS” that should also be taken care of:

  • Powershifting should be returned, baseline.
  • Infected Wounds should be increased to 40% and moved to Shred instead of Rake.
  • Mighty Bash should be baselined: Mighty Bash should be replaced by Faerie Swarm in the talent tree.

Just delete this spec already, there was so much feedback on how to make ferals good in 8.1 and yet nothing really came beside aoe rip. If druids will have 1 dd spec then maybe some lazy derriere will give more attention to druids situation. But who am i kidding?

Great suggestion guys, next update we will get our deserved 2% flat damage buff, and then maybe hotfix for 5% more! Which will bring us in next raid tier from second to worst dd-spec to maybe average at best. Good thing i will not be subbed when this happens.

I Will just pop here so you can delete your life.
Destro lock has purely AOE row (with bad, worse and cataclysm talents)
Affliction has pure AOE row (with bad, worse and Jack of all trades talents)
Demonology has purely AOE row (with okay and super good options).
… Yeah devs hate locks.

Either way, please proceed with delete.

(Also praised be blood talons, I wanna heal myself mid fight to put less strain on healers and be rewarded with damage for it)

Blood Talons and Predator’s Swiftness are not the same. Predator’s Swiftness allows you to instant cast a Regrowth/Entangling Roots, while Blood Talons gives you 2 charges which buffs your next physical damage ability.

Removing Blood Talons would not remove Predator’s Swiftness.

Feral is not a GCD locked spec. As Whitepaw said you can instant-heal yourself with PS mid-fight as much as you want to even without Bloodtalons. However, with Bloodtalons you’re forced to heal yourself even if you’re at 100% hp.

If you think you can’t heal yourself without Bloodtalons (without losing DPS) it’s because you’re bad, not because you don’t have Bloodtalons.

Why should you gain DPS for healing yourself? The reduced strain on the healers should be enough reward.

one thing I know is bloodtalons has been a real issue since the day it released and we have been telling blizzard we don’t want this garbage talent it ruins our playstyle and its still there … I’m kinda done with the spec …
