How to gear any character in game?

I am new in WarCraft. I just leveled my character to level 42. I only dont have dragonflight expansion. How to gear up character for items fast? Do normal quest leveling to level 50 and only do raids or dungeons?

gear doesn`t matter unless you are max level (70).

you create five demonhunters then you do split raids with your guild, where 4raids out of 5 u just give gear to other leather class and fifth raid you get funneled all gear. Then you also do +20 on each alt weekly

In all honestly, if you don’t want to get Dragonflight, there is no gearing to do. All content below “current” will give you normalised gear at level 60 that will be functionally the same regardless of source - and none of it will be remotely comparable to characters at level 70.

It’s a little tough to suggest what to do in your case. You won’t really find much of a community or social experience without investing in the latest expansion, but at level 60 you can’t just go solo older content - because you are at the level of that content. Basically for 99% of players, the game only starts at level 70.

Is there any particular reason you are avoiding Dragonflight, or is it more that you wanted to try the game first?

Morgutis, 50 was the level people stopped at before the launch of Dragonflight.

You will now level to 60, and then think about your gear.

No, I don’t think so.

Gear does indeed matter, at any level, and a new 60 will still be in something like ilevel 140-160. The gap between that and 250 is huge, and AFAICS, 250 is still reasonably easily attainable in Shadowlands.

I’m not sure about the current best available gear at 60. Basically, start by hitting the Auction House and checking out what upgrades you can get from that. I just checked the AH for level 60 gear, and it hasn’t changed much since Shadowlands, except to get more expensive because nobody’s making it.

Anything below ilevel 200 seens to be dirt cheap, but 233s and 262s cost thousands a piece.

The zone Zereth Mortis in the Shadowlands will give you ilevel 252 gear, and I think that’s the same level of gear that drops from Mythic dungeons.

I’m honestly not sure what ilevel drops from Shadowlands raids now, but it probably won’t be a lot better. The devs have probably lopped the rop off the gear that was available from raids, and it’s unlikely you will find a group of 60s doing raids anyhow.

I’m also a very new player, only playing a week and a half so far and here are my thoughts:

So, I just hit level 70 last night on my first character (this rogue), and the power difference between level 70 gear, and EVERYTHING below it is insane. I’m only I think 325 ivl, and I’m already hitting in the 10s of thousands. I would highly encourage you to get dragonflight as

  1. The story is amazing (after watching some lore videos to catch up on what we missed.)
  2. The zones and ambiance are amazing and beautiful, Super chill vibes just fishing with my guildies.
  3. The gear far outpaces anything pre 60, within your first zone, you’ll easily get decked out in I believe 210 ilvl gear, which is a significant impact on your overall efficiency as a character.

TL;DR, from one new player to another, I HIGHLY recommend you get dragonflight to gear up. Not just for a the experience/zones/story, but also the gear you get from even just questing ^^

So having written that, I was curious just how much the devs might have flattened level 60 gear between top and bottom and scaling.

So I picked up some typical 60 AH gear on one of my left-behind 60s I don’t play much, and went into BfA and slaughtered a few random normal mobs, as you would when questing, no cooldowns, no buffs, just target-dummy type stuff, moving mob to mob. With its Shadowlands gear of 243, it was doing about 5K against BfA 60s. With the cobbled-together greens from the AH (decent weapons though!) and ilevel of 164, it was doing something like 1500. At 243, it had 50K HP; at 164, it had 26K.

So yeah, if you’re going to spend time at 60, it is definitely worth getting from your initial 150-160 gear up to 250-ish. It will make your play much more comfortable.

Having said that, both Alewín and Viyene and right about the devs making sure that the main gameplay is in the current expansion - that is the one they’re charging for, after all!

So by all means get some gear and explore the world at 60 - there’s a LOT to explore. But if you find yourself getting bored, consider either buying Dragonflight to play among other people, or branching off to Classic Wrath of the Lich King, which is also covered in your subscription, where you can play a very popular earlier expansion with a lot of other people.
