i m very bad healer (and dps) and i dropped from 1600 to 967 in some days, i m trying very hard but everyone else is so much better.
The biggest problem is that now at 900 rating i have to wait 20 min queue as a healer so i cant even play to become better and so when queue pops i m so nervous to win that i lose again 6/6 and drop even further which makes the waiting time to maybe 30 min or an hour long.
Why queue time depends on rating i dont understand. …Is some kind of punishment?
I’m not the best person to advice on healer gameplay, however having the right gear & talents might just do the difference, so I recommend you 4 tips ;
- I suggest you to visit Murlok io, there you can see essentially what gear and talents to use for specific bracket modes like Solo Shuffle, you can see what enchants and gems to use.
- Catalyst Console, located in Dornagal, you can upgrade your Chest, Shoulder Legs, Head, Hands and convert them into Tier Set that grants bonuses, refer to Murlok io for more details where to place them.
- Check video guides through youtube and set your keybindings and macros for your rotations & cd managements along with suitable PvP addons
- Most important of all, practice, practice & practice makes perfection, ask around (any fellow healer rsham or experienced healers for more detailed tips) and if you can, record your gameplay to learn from your mistakes and with the right mindset and some self motivation, you will progress.
Hope this helps you, and best of luck.
Just playing i guess.
Healer is hard anyways.
Try to get better every game atleast abit.
Try to analise the games u win not the once u lose u should know instandly why u lost but in games u won i can be like oh i could have done that better my position could have been better.
its because it tries to match you with the healer of similar mmr and there are not that many healers at 900
i would suggest playing BGs before arenas though(first random bgs(epics are just a clown fiesta of who is getting a premade on their side), then battleground blitz), its much less stressful and mistakes dont punish you there as much because there are 7 more people
then when you’re getting the hang of it try arenas again, although with your mmr its kinda better to create a new character for shuffle lol
also, 2v2 is much easier than shuffle for healers, i would suggest playing there for a while after bgs
I have good news. At 900 it’s simple to improve cause there are probably plenty of things you’re doing wrong. If you are 900 and want to be 1400. Most likely your throughput is far from being optimized. Check how you should be doing your healing/damage properly and try to maximize it. For 1400 it should be more than enough.
i would probably look into addons.PErsonnally i would ask you if you use bigdebuffs, omnibar, omnicd and sarena or gladiator
Actually good point didnt think og addons right away
Resto shamans are dog tier at the moment, good luck being able to do anything. If you want your 1400 back reroll disc priest. It’s the most simple spec to play and extremely reactive on-demand mega heals means you’re never caught with your pants down.
Resto shaman requires a lot of forethought and preplanning, it’s not friendly to play at all if you dont sweat over the game 12 hours a day.
I can give you some advice, because I also suffered a bit with Shaman.
You have to think ahead a lot and know the enemy spells to prevent them from pushing you out.
Example:
Resto shaman (you)
UH DK with you, Ret paladin with you
Enemy:
Disc priest
Frost mage, DH.
The main goal here is to not get polymorphed, not get fear.
Your main target should be the mage, make sure to always move so that you are close to a wall. Interrupt his cast with Wind Shear if you can’t get to a wall, or if you absolutely have to go out into the open, then Grounding totem.
The DH will be stuck on your DK or ret paladin, which will cause both of them to get a pretty big AOE. Always have the healing stream totem down and always have Riptide active. If the DH and the mage burst, put Earthen wall totem under them, if they move out of it, put all your totems away. Put Healing Tide totem if it’s definitely going to be a big burst, you won’t be able to cast because of the breaks, and if possible, stay as far away from the healer priest as possible. If he’s approaching you, then tremor totem.
If you move well and position yourself well, the totems will bring the most healing. Try to cast in a way that you’re always out of range of the mage.
In order to win, you need your support too. In the case of UH and ret pala, when your partner bursts UH, put a static field totem when he pulls everyone together, Root, Stun totem if necessary. Believe me, they’ll thank you, the enemy will have to go defensive.
Healing is essentially about thinking ahead, knowing what your teammates have, how you can defend against the enemy, and what they will definitely be pushing at you.
Always keep on cooldown your Unleash Life cause it call an ancestor for x sec and repeats your healing. And pop Natures swiftness 30 sec to a Macro where its macroed with a Healing Surge.
The guide videos can help you a lot, Cdew has a lot (i dont really like him, but he is the best shaman today)
At that level of play you probably want to focus on healing and nothing else. Stay as far away from the enemy healer as possible at all times. Don’t try to cast CC (instant CC is okay). Don’t try to do damage. Don’t play aggressive and just focus on keeping your team alive. Try to use all your major CD’s every match. This should bring you back to 1400.
honestly? just avoid arena and learn in bg’s instead
theres way too much happening in arena that you simply arent able to effectively process what you can be doing better
Your tips are good guys but if he wants to get 1400 let’s be honest. It’s not because of addons. To play at 1400 you just need throughput and then on top you should add other things. With just maximizing your output you should get there. Learn to maximize your healing. Maybe you are not using certain modifier. Check murlok.io
and just try to do as much healing as possible. Also keep in mind that at these ratings people will be complete potatoes so sometimes even if you are a healing god someone will do no damage or go behind the pillar and die. Overall though if you do enough healing 1400 is a piece of cake.
Also try to find a partner and play 2s more. There is one less potato to heal so you can focus more on at the early stage of learning how to PvP. Once your awarness improves and you will be satisfied with your output try 3s and RSS. Solo shuffle as a healer with low experience will be a nightmare. Imo natural learning progression should be 2s → RSS → 3s. BGs are fine but your output should be slightly different. More aoe focused there.
Duel people.
or Skirmish
its the OG way to learn
if you are bad at healing thats the only way.
make sure to use keybinds, and as a shammy you want MASTERY / VERS gear only
- my shammy will focus Riptides and then Healing surge/ unleash life - rinse and repeat/ Drop healing totem on cooldown
take double earth shield
and use static totem to move enemies away from your team
earth grab melee targets that are too far away, this will disrupt them and help you heal
you can counter pressure warriors or paladins with wings using these methods
avoidable damage is the best type of healing
what if he wants to become better in arena not in bgs bgs is even more random
