How to increase mining and skinning skill?

Hello back when I was playing WoW 1000 years ago, the skinning skill started increasing right away as soon as I skinned. Similarly the mining skill increased as soon as I started mining. Now I returned to WoW after so many years and chose skinning and mining again but when I skin or mine the skills dont increase. Although I skinned and mined many times they are still at 1. How to increase them? I tried everything I could see but couldnt figure it out

They reworked it so that each expansion has their own skill levels nowadays. So if you’re mining or skinning some late expansion stuff, it won’t increase for the others.

I played wow many years ago. Bought on cd, the original wow, then burning crusade then lick king. Played it several years and stopped. It was very straightforward. You learned a skill and it increased. I was playing in USA zone at the time. Now I play in EU zone. I installed wow. Didnt try classical wow yet. So are you saying, because I bought expansion for original wow before, if I played in classical wow my skills will increase only in there? And to classical wow what expansions are there, I lost tracks

They are seperate editions.

There are some various versions but:

  • Classic Era (Akin to Vanilla)
  • Classic Anniversary (Progressing to TBC in about a year)
  • Hardcore versions of above (Die once, end your run at this realm and move to the Classic realms)
  • Cataclysm Classic Progression (Just Cataclysm)
  • Season of Discovery (Modified Classic)

I think I got them all hm.

Thanks but I am still lost as to which expansion do I need and what region to be in… They really messed up on this one. And lets say I got the correct expansion and I am in the right region. Then what? Do I need to play there always only in that region?

For the Classic series, only a subscription is required.

The subscription also gives you access to all Retail expansions up Dragonflight but not the latest expansion, Retail The War Within.

Yes. You’re in the EU region as you noted earlier. The regions do not share progress.

Did you go to the skinning and mining trainers of the expansion you are playing in?
