let them be druids and give them tranformer animations for their shapeshift into mecha-forms.

how to make allied races a success: Add good looking ones.
What stops them from adding undead night elves to the Horde and then high elves to the alliance, for example? both would be a huge success instead of diaper gnomes and vulpera.

let them have a worgen-like travel form where they transform into a mech-dog/car/whateveryoucancomeupwith
