Don’t be an all 'rounder. Find your niche, at which you excell. Not everything. If you’re a powerful caster, it means Cqc sucks for you. If you are a close combat combatant yourself, don’t also be a freaking crack-shot sniper ace.

Have a thing you’re powerful at, but don’t be powerful at everything.

Gods, you can’t even type originally!

Yeah, I ignore you, you’re…not really worth paying that much attention to. Sorry, if you had something interesting to say, then I would absolutely change my mind but…Hmm. No…You’re not…fascinating.

Hey, not my fault if y’all can’t read. I did explain where you could find the sources, also…umm…pretty sure whilst they took heavy smashings, the Elves -have- won every war?

You want to tag team any more folk in here?

I want to know it sounds like a Splatterpunk Video Nasty fanfic.

PUT ME IN COACH

It was a post relating to a thing that someone did, in RP. I went "This is fecking unpleasa….Crap, off to play with Tanks… Adios!

yes, and screwed up the world in the process…

also, im not speaking on behalf of the PCU despite what you think. im actually quite shocked and insulted that you think i am not capable of posting and thinking in my own headspace.

but im sure you’ll somehow think this is a message that perroy told me to post or something.

you truly are an epic gamer.

I dunno, I guess it depends on how you implement being an all-rounder. For example, this character of mine is actually pretty good at all schools of magic, including the darker ones.

However, because being really good at all kinds of magic would be a bit OP, I put a massive restriction on it. Redburn knows how to do all kinds of magic, but it takes her a while to get back into the swing of different types of magic when she’s changing her focus.

Like, she’ll be a pyromancer for a bit, and she’ll be a pretty good pyromancer, but if somebody were to ask her to put out one of the fires she just made, she’ll have to be doing cryomancy for a few hours to remember how to do it with any degree of skill, at which point a village will have burned down and she’d be yelled at by the angry villagers.

It would be a bit like riding a bike. You never forget, but if you’ve not been doing it for a few years, you’re gonna struggle at first.

I’ve made my character relatively powerful over the course of the six (6) years I’ve played him.

Much of what he can do or uses outside of his normal DK abilities has been learnt or acquired through IC interaction.

Some people don’t like that, some people think it’s a lie, but it is all right. At the end of the day, I have fun with those who respect my character because I always respect other people’s characters regardless of what they decide to RP as. Yes, that includes dragon role-players. :japanese_goblin:

anyway, before brigs steamrolls in once again with a heavy post as to how everyone in the brigante resistance is a pcu player or alt of perroy…

Play an OP character as much as you want in the right space and atmosphere. Do not expect anyone to bow down to you unless it is in their prerogative to do so. And so as to not get this twisted…

I mean when it makes sense. For example, I am not going to accept total decimation just because Lord Sephiroth the Untouchable, King of Kings, Slayer of Sargeras just decided he wanted to powerplay.

Meant it more in a “I am a Mage, but I am also a super strong Melee fighter, and also super sneaky,” If you’re a super good mage, you cannot be a super good warrior, or a super good rogue. Stick to your archetype.

A mage knowing multiple schools of magic is determined on the expirience of said Mage, so if she’s a expirienced caster, I have no issues with her knowing multiple schools. If she is an Initiate, then ehhhhh…

There was a bunch of Ally-side high-fantasy hero guilds a while back, Lionsworn (Lionheart?), Unsworn Collective or something - haven’t seen either around for a while. Are we all low-fantasy edgemen now, or are they just off saving the world?

i havent touched alliance rp enough to properly comment…

are there any horde equivalents? Horde seems to be a bit more high-fantasy in general.

i dont think so, but then again, i like rp’ing in my own circles and applaud the real ones that go out from under the rock to take a good look around.

They are still around as far as I know.

Really, at the end of the day, your RP shouldn’t just come down to your character’s power. I mean, neglecting socialising etc makes it more of an NPC by feeling, and takes away opportunities for your character to develop.

I play a character I consider OP and can’t recall any valid complaints (other than from people with blunt, mundane weapins complaining that my 2k y/o mage shielded herself against them) and I go by one simple rule of thumb: OP doesn’t stand for omnipotent. Character don’t always use their powers perfectly. Characters can get confused or stunned by a turn of events, or think that a particular approach would be over the top.

More interestingly, every OP character can be weakened, but if you insist on trying once with blunt force and get salty about not succeeding without even putting any thought into it, maybe it’s better to leave a conflict at that, for both parties.
