How to "save" wow

It would be a decision for Blizzard to make but people can currently trial for free to 20, if they then want to try more without committing to buying the latest expansion they can just sub for a month and play everything up to the last expansion.

My concern with anything free is it just increases the number of bots and badly behaved players.

F2P means more gold spammers, less content updates, loot boxes.

Compared to the massive content updates and the boost spammers I am sure that wouldnt matter much.

It will go down the drain. It will become like swtor. Forgotten foster child.

I agree that it would be cool to be able to play WoW on consoles, and it would be good for the game’s health if it allowed console gamers to join.

But WoW has made several game design choices that would currently make it a poor console gaming experience:

  1. Too many buttons. Most classes have too many abilities so that playing them with a controller would be very difficult.
  2. Addons. High-end raids and M+ requires WeakAuras. Maybe not on LFR and Normal raids or for M+10s, but in higher difficulties a lot of boss fights pretty much require WAs/DBM/BW/LW.
  3. Text chat. A lot of stuff in the game requires communication (trading, discussing boss tactics, etc.), and that’s most easily done with text chat. Console games tend to have voice chat only, because typing text messages with a game pad is slow. But voice chat is toxic so a lot of players don’t want to use it.

If Blizz wants to “fix” these 3 issues to make WoW console friendly, they would have to make huuuuge changes:

  1. Dumb down a lot of classes.
  2. Disable addons, improve the base UI a lot more, and design dungeons/raids around that.
  3. Completely redesign how communication is done in the game. Maybe add text communication to the WoW Companion mobile app for trade chat, raid/party chat, and whispering players?

It could be done, but it would involve huge changes. Especially dumbing down classes and disabling addon support would make a lot of existing player probably rage-quit the game. I think it would be too risky for Blizz to do that; it would be better to create a new MMO game from scratch that has console gaming support in mind from the start.

I’ve seen this argument a few times now but has anyone actually ever tried to play FFXIV as a F2P player? I have and the experience wasn’t particularly great for someone with fairly limited playing hours.

As a F2P player you get put in a login queue and whenever a P2P player joins the queue, you get booted out and have to start the login procedure over again. It’s not a case of being bumped down the queue, it is a complete throw out and start again scenario.

So, if you want to play during the evenings or weekends you eventually get so fed up of the system that you pay for a months subscription and then you’re locked as once you go P2P you cannot go back to being F2P.

It looks great on paper but it is a frustrating mess if you actually try to use it.

Sub keeps away toxic players and bots.
I know we already have toxic player and bots with f2p to lvl 60 this will increased 1000%

I have a battlenet friend with this one, but he is very friendly and has never been toxic to me and the others

He enjoys just a content

As a classic player … bots are everywhere and i mean EVERYWHERE !!! and they pay sub. Just youtube classic wow bots.

Hundreds upon hundreds of videos showing the sames bots doing the same thing for months and Blizz does not care. They don’t see them as bots but as paying customers.

I feel your point is invalid just because of the lack of care or action taken by Blizz about the situation.

As for DF , the bots still exist but because of mandatory dragon riding around zone it’s just not easy to program in a path like you can in older zones.

Why does it need saving?

I think the main problem WoW needs to solve is attracting younger players away from fortnite/valorant instant gratification games. I bet the right MMO could be HUGE, like dungeons and dragons is making a comeback so people do want a fantasy type game.

read up you will see the actually crisis Blizz and wow is going through.

China’s player base and money for all their games not just WoW are being deleted next week. That’s all their progress , all their gold everything and including their wallets. Deleted.

Roughly between 1-2 millions player just gone overnight.

Meaning there’s only 3 regions left that made up less than half of what China did.

WoW will have the population size that it did back end of 2005 , lower than WoD and far lower than SL

ontop of that Dragonflight didn’t sell well and alot of players lost trust in Blizz x2 bad expansion and other dramas.

I would love to think Actiblizz make games for out love and pure passion for gaming , gamers and their franchises. Sadly money talks louder than all three of those things.

I think Dragonflight is safe , but what about the budget for next expansion ? Why spend the same amount of $$$ on making for 50% less the returns. Now you see why it needs " saving"
